There are some secret society scenes that supposedly are based on real world secret societies and sex rituals that the elite perform for pure hedonistic pleasure. Watch the movie and then read up on the days after the movie released, which is when Kubrick just suddenly died. Sure, he was already an old man, but his history with the US government and him already knowing too much (if you also believe in the theory that he directed the fake moon landings) presents a solid theory. His last movie was supposedly a giant red pill to the world because he knew they were onto him.

Romero's original three Living Dead movies are easily three of my favourite movies ever made. I could watch any one of them pretty much indefinitely but I think I might like Day most. The bigger cast and the way that everyone's actively antagonistic towards each other even harder than in Night makes it so tense and cool.

If you think a movie that does slow mo to gratify violence is the same tone as watchmen, which used realistic violence to shock the reader. The squid isn't what Zak fucked up (its an adaptation I would have been fine with literally anything else that made any sense). He fucked up the implication of the ending. He makes it seem like Ozymandias is actually perfectly successful in his plotting when the novel questions the kind of peace brought about by such a fantastical solution that could only exist in pulpy fictional comic book and film worlds. Snyder misses the point of Watchmen - thoroughly. He plays up the violence to comical levels that just don't shock the viewer at all. He seems to really believe that Ozymandias' only boastful error in judgement is his computer password and not his cartoonist plot for world peace. That's what I mean when it misses the tone and the meaning. Watchmen is about the colliding of hard realistic fiction with grandiose fantastical comic book nonsense. Snyder loses all sense of realism and goes full hack. It's not an unwatchable movie but it's also a horrible adaptation of watchmen. Snyder has the storytelling prowess of an edgy 15 year old. See: ... Well literally everything besides the owl movie.
