So, what are some good political thrillers and espionage-fiction movies with good characters and nice action?
I just watched The Manchurian Candidate from '62 and it was pretty good, but I want something with a bit more action, like the Bourne trilogy or pic related, minus the costumed heroes thing of course.
Generally, most classic thrillers are light on action. It's all about paranoia and trying to outthink/outmaneuver your enemies while figuring out what's really going on. The Filmmakers said the were influenced by the tone of the movie "Three Days of the Condor," which is a classic political thriller and well worth watching, but it's very light on action.

I know, I'm not expecting something like Winter Soldier, filled with action scenes, I just used it as an example because the action scenes in it are very, very memorable.
I love the Manchurian Candidate film, so anything similar to it would probably be good too.

Thanks anon, I'm downloading all of those.
Seven Days in May is a masterpiece from the director of The Manchurian Candidate, but it has almost no action.

All the Presidents Men is good as well. Klute is a good 70s style PI type thriller.
