Easton Ellis is shit. you're correct in saying the least interesting aspects of the novel are the murders, but he does not elevate the significance of anything he is writing about, it all becomes monotonous, and even if that was his overall thesis, there is no synthesis beyond his insipid and often juvenile cultural criticism.
