What's next? Shariah showrunners? Salafist script editors? Radical writers?
>>
>>69066791
>The BBC has already met with the Writers' Guild of Great Britain [WGGB] - the union for professional scriptwriters - to discuss new approaches to writing the scripts. One area that had been discussed was a "writers room" and the union has indicated that it had no particular objections to the proposals.

>“If it’s what the BBC wants and it’s what the writers want it then it’s fine by us,” said Bernie Corbett, who was general secretary of the union when the BBC discussed the ideas with his organisation.

>“Nobody’s against it. Lots of writers would like to try it but you have to get round those practical difficulties. Our job as a Trade Union is not to disrupt things or hold things back if they think it is a good idea."

>A BBC spokesperson said: “It’s still very early days and no fixed model has been decided upon yet. Chris Chibnall as the new showrunner will write his own episodes and is currently exploring different ways of working with new and established writers on the show. “

So what other "areas" did they discuss? Sounds a bit like cherrypicking to steer the conversation.

The roof was literally the same color paint as all of the walls and the console (and the arching pillars splittling it up), which all appear significantly darker. You can also see the console itself illuminated around its edges, from the bright ambient light. That cannot be achieved with a photohsop filter, especially not on an image as grainy as this >>69065743
The roof has been modified in some way. Whether it's white or chroma green is difficult to tell because of the black and white, but it is definitely brighter

The panels may appear dark without background and foreground lighting.

They may be made of painted plastic/perspex or whatever and, with doors opened in studio, plenty of natural light comes through.
You just never see this in the programme.

I hope not... It would actually be interesting how the male fans would react though, I bet they'd throw a fit about it, showing their hypocrisy.

Are you ready for me to blow your mind? Because I was actually one of the people who was having a calm, civil discussion with you yesterday, but it doesn't change the fact that you still act like a cunt and now I'm afraid that yesterday is going to encourage you to keep coming back more often and frankly that can only be a bad thing. So I and others would like a way to filter you.

>A trip closes down thought because so many people hate trips anyway.
That's not true, there are and have always been accepted trips on /who/. Nobody complains about Cloister or Schlemihl. You could still have converstaions with people who want to talk to you while allowing those who don't to filter you. That mean you are imposing your presence upon people who don't want it unnecessarily and that makes you an obnoxious person. Not that that's an unusual thing on 4chan, but what makes you especially insufferable is that you always believe you have the high ground. You are worse than the people who troll you because at least they know they're shitposting.

The roof is made of fabric - you can see the studio lights through it in attached image. Not sure if that's the reason for this image...? I'm intrigued if not.

>>69066791
Really really like this idea. Have been discussing the possibility with friends for a few years now. It'd definitely allow the show to be much more focused and a lot more consistent tone wise!

They'd be able to really incorporate the series arc into each episode this way without it feeling messy or tacked on. That way they could continue to do 'monster of the week' format but it would feel more serialised as a result.

>>
>>69068215

It has the potential to be constructive. You know I haven't done that, I'm asking simple questions about first principles. How is watching a television show casually or for the star worse than watching it for plot? On an intrinsic level, why? So far, every reply has been along the lines of 'because it is'.
>>
>>69068154

It is pleb. Watching Doctor Who just because you find an actor attractive is pleb.

>>69068274

No, it's true, I addressed this:

> Another aspect of this is that Capaldi is in some people's opinion a worse actor than Matt Smith. He looks like he wouldn't be - he's older, and we equate age with chops. But maybe that's a shallow equation?
>>
>>69068328
because if you're just watching a show for no other reason than the lead is hot and you don't care about the plot or anything that's going on makes you part of the Tumblr crowd that believes that there are only three Doctors and has no idea about Classic Who

>>
>>69068274
Capaldi didn't make it to 2 iconic TV roles in one lifetime by being old. Age naturally brings with it gravitas, as long as the performer maintains a clarity of expression, and eing an older man does have its appeal for some sections of the audience, but they couldn't have cast just any old muppet and won the level of support Capaldi has. On top of having an individual charisma (and that face), he is good at selling powerful scenes and humour because he is a highly mentally and physically engaged performer.

No, I said nothing of the sort yesterday. You've decided to trash what you've learned.

I haven't ignored it. Here's what I take from it:

1. You don't like being tricked into engaging with things on a merit basis, you want to be able to decide what to think about them based on the poster's identity.

2. You want other people to treat your right not to engage as their obligation to stay out of your way.

I want to say Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS. Not entirely sure though
>>
>>69069684
Capaldi improved when they stopped giving him meme edgy comments and forced callous moments. His portrayal of depression in series 9 is substantially more interesting. Also, Capaldi's best 'dark' scene is the climax of Face the Raven.

This is one of those episodes I don't admit to liking
>>
>>69070075
Oops, forgot Davison, always thought he was older than that. Maybe after watching him in All Creatures during the 70s, I kinda he was older by the time he became the Doctor??

It's a story about how three black men stole Doctor's ride because he let a woman drive. What's not to like?
>>
>>69070557
I personally loved it.
>>
>>69070371
probably because it's not very popular and received some understandable criticisms

melanon is a fucking psychopath

>glibness and superficial charm, grandiose sense of self-worth, pathological lying, cunning/manipulative, lack of remorse, emotional shallowness, callousness and lack of empathy, unwillingness to accept responsibility for actions, a tendency to boredom, a parasitic lifestyle
>>
>>69070474
It could have been GOAT. Some of the sets were gorgeous, Matt and Jenna were really good in it. But the story was so lame. The twist with the one guy being an android was so dumb. I wish Moffat had wrote the episode himself instead of giving the idea to Thompson.
>>
>>69070709
Is that just a copypasted list of traits for psychopaths? Because I don't know about the lying or the parasitic lifestyle but the rest of that sounds pretty spot on.
>>
>>69068672
Maybe the REAL reason for the filming delay is becos Pearl Mackie is tied into her West End theatre contract till then?
>>

>Also, it's creepy, to have a pretty and young Clara, with a man 50 years older than her.

People forget that the Doctor has and will always been at least 900 years older than most of his companions. He's 2000 in series 9 for goodness' sake.

Has a show with such a great premise ever been more incompetently executed than Dr Who?

It should be great and yet pretty much every episode is just insufferable.
>>
>>69071396
why would he call himself a psychopath?
>>
>>69071399

Capaldi's decrepid from years of ching.
>>
>>69071347
But visually, it still looks odd to some people.

Not to me, mind you. 12 never was creepy with Clara, and there's nothing intrinsically creepy about people of their ages being friends anyway. Eleven was closer to being a creep than Twelve, what with the "skirt a little too tight" comment.
>>
>>69071116
They aren't even going on air until 2017. It would hardly be worth the hassle.
And shit, maybe she actually wanted to finish her run playing like 6 parts in Curious Incident which is one of the most beloved productions of modern times.

Sword Art Online.

>>
>>69071347
They were talking about visual appearance, though I think it's a silly issue to raise in the case of an alien character who ages differently from humans. And besides, previusly Eccleston was in his 40s with a teenaged Rose, Tennant was mid to late 30s. Both portraying a 900 year old character with a 19 year old companion.
>>

I want Series 10 AND a new companion
I want Series 10 AND a new companion AND a new Heaven Sent
And while we're at it…

I want Capaldi
I want bearded Capaldi
So much beard and so much hair
It would be unfair
To Tom and Jon's great wear
No, now!

I want a Dalek
I want a Cyber
Sleek looking silver and a galaxy glider and a really good writer
Give it to me… NOW!

I want Gallifrey,
I want Ras' my bae
I want to lock it all up in my pocket
Universe it's my rocket
Give it to me…NOW!

I want Davros
I want the Mara
I want to see them all day long in my head and I don't want to lose 'em'

I want a party of the Doctors' laughter
Twelve stories all so extreme
And if I don't get the things I am after
I'm gonna scream!

I want VNA,
I want VNA darkness!
Zygons and Slitheens, and Chumblies and Drahvins, and Oods and Argolins
And now!
Don't care how I want it now!
Don't care how I want it now!

I feel whether or not you will like S9 can be told by how much you like Capaldi's guitar-playing.

12 didn't even treat Clara in any sort of creepy way. It's not like 50 year olds and 20 year olds can't have purely nice, truly deep relationships in real ife.

I wouldn't go that far. Multi-roling in big ensemble shows is pretty much a trick of the trade. I haven't seen the show or read the book but I don't imagine No. 40 / Voice Five / Lady in Street / Information / Punk Girl & Ensemble are all parts worthy of Shakespeare

Why? It's not like he'd only be of interest to people who've seen Hartnell. Just introduce him as "the Doctor's first ever human companion (with a throwaway mention of Barbara)" and people would be interested.

Again, haven't seen it, no idea.
Just saying that playing 6 parts in a show doesn't necessarily mean you're a prodigy, it really depends on the show. Lots of plays have a shitload of characters with smaller parts which are all filled by the same small group of actors.
