I'm going to start with this. This film had the potential to be fantastic; great -if not a little overdone- concept, very passable visual effects, Sharlto Copley's brilliant performance- but Blomkamp just seemed to completely fuck it up. My biggest beef is that the film feels less than a piece of cinema and more like an advertisement for Die Antwoord. I like the film, it has some brilliant moments, but -largely due to the aforementioned- it is an absolute cringefest and some moments are almost too painful to sit through (dat ending).

I just hope Neil learns from it and gets his shit together. And that the daft fucking twat doesn't cast Die Antwoord in the new Alien.

I remember walking out of this movie thinking about how, if someone proper were there to hold Blomkamp's hand, we could have gotten the AI equivalent to something as decent as Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

Well every shit movie has the potential to be great, and every goo movie has the potential to be even better.

I would go with Immortal
What they did with the ending was absolutely inexcusable.

i remember seeing the feature length version of frankenweenie and thinking it could have been brilliant if the ending was about loss and nostalgia but instead im pretty sure the dog just came back to life again

I actually think Die Antwoord was fine in the movie.

Their music stage personas fit with their movies characters. Two white suburban south africans trying to be hard core gang bangers. They suck at it, but then they get some Super Science dumped on them by pure chance.

Jesus Christ don't even joke about that

Basically every Blomkamp film after District 9. I still enjoy them because of the robot/tech porn, but they're crappy generic sci-fi with nothing new or interesting thing to say.

I think he would make an excellent Eclipse Phase adaptation though.

I actually preferred Chappie to Elysium. It was crap, but at least it wasn't HITTING ME IN THE FACE with S U B T L E POLITICAL ALLEGORY.

I don't think there's a worse feeling when watching something in the cinema than the movie getting right up in my face and saying DID YOU GET DID YOU SEE WHAT I DID THERE

I thought it was a great pre-apocalypse film because if they think everything is going to go fine after the shit they pulled then they don't know how humanity works.
>>
Besdes Die Antwood obviously being a horrible fucking choice to have in the movie, what also pissed me off was Chappie's design. His face looks so stupid. I couldn't get over it for even one second in the whole movie. This monobrow, fat nose, retard grin design.

I enjoyed it until the final act. Christ it ruined the film for me

Yeah your right, a modernist scifi type film, where the crime fighting robot that gets a crisis of conscience and freaks out sounds bad ass and red pilled, but lets be honest..

Chappie was limp wristed liberal garbage with Die Antword advertisements shoved into each act though, coupled with literally cringeworthy over acting that the director could have easily told them to stop.

I mean, Hugh Jackman was overdoing it in some scenes which was noticable, but it actually came off almost normal when compared to the rest of the ham fisted cast.
