Now that the dust has settled can we have a fair and balanced discussion on what season 5 did better than the books and vice versa?
Better than the books
>Tyrion's storyline not being excruciatingly slow and boring + actually meeting Dany instead of dick teasing us
>Addition of Hardhome to Jon's storyline
>No Penny, fake Aegon or Quentyn subplot
Equal to the books:
>Most of Brienne's storyline is still boring
>Cersei's storyline is adapted more or less faithfully
Worse than the books:
>Everything to do with the Sandsneks
>Removal of Jaime in the riverlands
>Stannis dies before his finest hour (could happen in the books but I doubt it)
>Making Theon's storyline about Sansa.

Google it. They kept talking about a "controversial Sansa chapter" a while back and in their review of Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken they were less critical of the rape scene than you'd expect and would not rule out that something similar could happen to Sansa in TWoW

Overall, it was far worse than the books. That's saying a lot since books 4 and 5 weren't so great themselves.
The Sansa/Littlefinger wrinkle in the plot literally made no sense at all; clearly they just needed to give Sansa something to do for another season.
The Dornish stuff doesn't need much else to be said about it. It was shit. Not to mention, they abandoned any potential character development with Jaime.
King's Landing was alright, but making the faith anti-gay was a pretty cheap way to make the audience dislike them. Also it cements the idea that Loras is nothing more than a gay slut. That's my only nitpick about it though.
The stuff at the Wall was excellent besides the addition of Olly who is a waste of screentime.
Stannis was completely butchered. He was the best part of Dance with Dragons, and the end of his army (20 good men) was supremely retarded.
Arya's arc was just her dicking around in Braavos. Nothing happened most of the time and she didn't need nearly as much screentime as she received.
No Bran, but honestly this might have been for the best.
Overall, the season gets a 4/10, and it would have been a 3/10 without Hardhome.
