Are we ever going to get a good Conan movie, /tv/? A good real Conan movie, one that properly adapts the Robert E. Howard stories?
I guess you can say that the Jason Momoa movie did that, but it was fucking awful. Also, it fucked up because it gave Conan a Special Sword and a Special Woman, two things Conan absolutely never has.

John Milius's Conan The Barbarian was a fantastic movie. I don't care about that shitty pulp fiction, that movie is amazing and I all I need.
not gonna happen in this social climate
The broader question is: will we ever get a good fantasy movie?
Every fantasy movie these days can't take the subject seriously, it has to treat it like a joke and have its tongue in cheek and nudge the audience and wink and all that shit

Wut
>>69050945
do you really think liberal SJW hollywood is gonna make a movie about an awesome cisgendered male who saves and ravages 10/10 hot bitches that wear nothing but jewelry and function as nothing but sexual objects?
not gonna FUCKING happen

If I was rich I would make the ultimate Conan film. Every woman in it would be witch or a wench, and Conan would just be walking scar tissue. It would set the record for decapitations onscreen, and keep it till the sequel. If the PC brigade tries to shame me into submission they'll only receive a hearty "TO HELL WITH YOU!"

>treat it like a joke and have its tongue in cheek and nudge the audience and wink and all that shit
I know exactly what you mean. Shit makes me see red.
>>69051004
That's not in Conan
>>69050632
Sadly I think Fire and Ice (NOT asoiaf/got, plebs) is as close as we'll ever get.
>>69051189
op's pic suggests other wise. Frazetta's conan is the only canon conan, fuck your stupid books that were written by an autist for his own escapism
>there will never be a Deathdealer movie with a ripped white male slaying smelly barbarians and fucking 10/10 nubile nymphs
>>69051207
but that movie is lame :(
>>69050632
>Are we ever going to get a good Conan movie, /tv/? A good real Conan movie, one that properly adapts the Robert E. Howard stories?
no
>>69050632
>I guess you can say that the Jason Momoa movie did that
how was that in any way good or in any way a good adaptation of a story
>>69050883
>Every fantasy movie these days can't take the subject seriously, it has to treat it like a joke and have its tongue in cheek and nudge the audience and wink and all that shit
And yet when they play it completely straight, that shit falls on it's face with ludicrousness 9 times out of 10.
>eragon
>hobbit movies
>all of legend of the seeker
hokey shit is hokey and it sounds silly coming out of even the best actors' mouths
swords and sandals crap only appeals to manchildren
>>69052518
good thing we are talking about sword and sorcery movies and not sword and sandals then huh you fucking retarded faggot
>>69052518
Slavecuck nu-male detected.
So what's the best Conan movie out there?
I only watched the first one with Arnold.
>>69052677
then you already got it covered man
>>69052677
Sadly, that's it.
>>69052677
Conan the Destroyer
>>69052700
Dude the sequel was fucking awesome with Conan beating the shit out of a lovecraftian horror.
>>69052700
>>69052727
I was afraid of that, I'll watch that one again then.
>>69051189
That's in Conan a lot, actually. Honestly, I can't see a faithful Conan film being successful, or even good. It just doesn't lend itself to film without changing the character. Conan comic books can be very entertaining, though, as a diversion from reality for 20 minutes.
>>69050632
No, the source material is too sexist and racist for it to get a green light.
>>69052812
I read one of the conan comics lately (i think it was the 1996 one with 26 volumes). I had a lot of fun. It's a shame the American comics industry has been hijacked so hard by capeshit.
>>69052867
Was it the Kurt Busiek series? I really enjoyed that one myself. It seemed to turn to shit as soon as he took his focus off of it and concentrated on his other comic books.
>>69052749
>Conan beating the shit out of a lovecraftian horror.
Love that part. Great monster. The ripping off of the horn was unexpectedly gruesome.
>>69052932
the Timothy Truman one, published by Dark Horse. I got the dates mixed up, it's the 2008 series, not the 1996 one.
It adapted a bunch of the original short stories by Howard with some original content in it. It was nice seeing some of the stuff from the Complete Collection.
>>69050829
i thought it captured the spirit of the stories well, but REH's Conan would've been a slave for only about 10 minutes before he killed his captors and escaped
