Not sure about other countries but here The Simpsons aired in a public broadcast channel and we had at least 6 episodes per day, more during weekends. And if you had Fox you had 3 more episodes everyday.
We were exposed a lot to it. It's kind of part of our culture in a way. You wouldn't believe how many political memes, football, etc, are based on old episodes jokes. And it's pretty ok.
