Because lingerie models have to have a sensual presence. Mystique is a great character for someone who talks minimally but carries herself with some degree of sexual confidence.
Jlaw is too young and self-important to have the same kind of presence. She's not as good as being naturally sexy as someone whose job is to be that.
It's not like JLaw's performance is worse than Romjin. She's bad because she looks shitty in the makeup.
