One of my favorites, seen it four times including once in the theater, have a copy signed by Tatsuya Nakadai.
>ywn be this handsome
>>69020073
But he's not dead yet.
>>69019232
I have seen only like 1200 films in my entire life (according to my letterboxd) and I think this is the greatest actor of all time.
>>69019232
>tfw you will die before him
>>69020198
Bug eyed as fuck.
>>69019232
Who is this?
>>69020925
tatsuya nakadai
>>69021003
What should I watch by him?
>>69019232
Delete this
>>69021068
The Human Condition, if you have 9 hours.
The Face of Another
The Sword of Doom
High and Low
Nakadai > Mifune
>>69021164
I would also add Harakiri senpai
>>69021068
black river
untamed
human condition trilogy
when a woman ascends the stairs
yojimbo
sanjuro
harakiri
high and low
a woman's lfie
kwaidan
samurai rebellion
there's a few others that are kruosawa, kobayashi, naruse, etc films that are good also but that's enough to start with, he's been in plenty of great films
>>69019232
>83 year old
>seemingly in robust health
>still being a stage actor
>shooting doramas
He'll be fine.

These
Also Enjō. I love that one.
Why is The Sword of Doom so underrated? The fight scenes alone are better than anything that Kurosawa ever filmed. Some of the cinematography is also fantastic.
Was it just too edgy for audiences at the time?
>>69021437
Kurosawa is a shitty, dumbed down Japanese-director who shot films for the western audiences.
Fuck him.
>>69021518
That's edgier than any katana anon.
>>69021518
This.
I'd rather watch Naruse and directors under 15 ratings on RYM than Kurosawa.
>>69021518
oh fuck off
i know /tv/ likes to be contrarian but this is just ridiculous
>>69021518
>>69021824
Of course you hate him, he's
>popular
>well known
>done great films
I wouldn't expect anyone on /tv/ to love something of quality
>>69021518
>who shot films for the western audiences.
That's funny considering in a lot of his films, western influence is associated with corruption and evil
Why did Japan stop making great movies? Outside of Miike and Kitano (who are really hit or miss), I can't think of a single other modern Japanese director whose films I've enjoyed.
Am I just not looking hard enough? Or is Japan mostly just producing low grade z movie trash these days?
