Sadly, the german dub took away a lot. Some of the multi-lingual scenes are not as good, Pitt's fantastic accent is completely lost and that scene at the end where they speak "italian" with Walz is also complete lost in translation.

It's true that a piece of cinema is best enjoyed in its original version. The problem with this is the following: Germans speak German. If you run every American TV show or movie in English, children will grow up speaking English rather than German. Therefore our TV channels and cinemas run stuff in GERMAN, and the people that ACTUALLY care about the artistic value of cinema can buy the dvd (or torrent it online) and enjoy the original version.
You probably can't imagine how many shows on TV are American-made, from kids shows to adult shows, most is American. There's actually teenagers who think they aren't allowed to have sex because the American tv shows poisoned their minds with bullshit like "hurr if you have sex at 16 youre a sex offender".
