Its just squirts of neurtransmitters/endorphins.
If you can simualte neurons themselves in the form of neural networks, you can probably do something (like a fancy math function) to emulate those neurotransmitters/endorphins in an AI.
But thats way off in the future and Ava probably didnt feel emotion.
