What was the greatest decade for Cinema?

50s or 70s

This, because Hollywood realised that comic book movies are the future and are making tons of movies that are instant master pieces
>>
50's
>>
70s > 30s > 40s > 80s > 20s > 60s > 2000s > 50s > 90s > 1910s > 1900s > 19th century > 2010s
>>

70s perfect balance between technology, availability of means and the lack of the successful blockbuster formula that started developing in the 80s
>>
the 80's were the best for everything, not just film
>>
>>69007323
90s is a hell of a lot higher than that
>>
80s. No question.
>>
80s > 70s > 50s > 60s > 90s > 30s > 40s > 2000s.

2010's.

70s

80s.
>>
>>69007156
the 70's because the old studio system was dead and the Hays code was abandoned, which gave producers and directors more creative freedom than ever before
>>
>>69007918
>implying he isn't right
>>
>>69007918
Hardly nostalgia. I wasn't even alive then. They just had the best movies.
>>
80s and 2010s
>>
50's produced all the best film noirs and westerns, so that's my pick.
>>
>>69008585
Django > any fedora-core western from the 50s
>>
I might be a bit of a nostalgiafag but I'd have to say the 50's. They sure don't make movies like they used to.

I hope you mean the original Django and not the Tarantino shitfest.
>>
>>69008660
Ok

No country for old men > any western from the 50s
>>
>>69008611
If you think either Django is better than The Searchers or Rio Bravo you just straight up don't know what you're talking about.

40s (Citizen Kane, Bicycle Thieves etc)
>>
70s and early 80s
>>
Anything before the 70's was just musicals, movies with sitcom production values and a good blockbuster here and there. So I'd have to say the 70's were the first, and probably the best decade for movies.

You couldn't be a bigger pleb if you tried, fucking kill yourselves. 80s had shittiest music, shittiest fashion, shittiest film, everything was the shittiest

1970s > 1990s > 1960s > 1940s

The 70s is when movies started having characters with actual character. 99% of shit from before The Godfather was filled with Mr-Perfect actors who all looked and sounded the same. The women were pretty (too) but they all played the same cutout roles every movie.
The acting was way too much like live theatre; its like nobody realized you didn't have to overact for a camera like you did for an audience sitting in seats 100+ feet away from you.

1920's, when we had expressionism
>>
>>69012779
But mullets were cool as fuck what are you talking about?
>>
>>69007156
Whenever Taxi Driver came out.
>>
>>69014055
do you really think this is true? if so, I find it very hard to believe that you've watched many movies from before the 70's

anyway to answer the question I'd say the 50's
>>
>>69012779
Thank you. The 80s were fucking shit in terms of any artistic expression.
>>
>>69007323
