This show could have been mythically epic, but:
>a bunch of episodes absolutely shit the bed
>all of their advanced technology not working 95% of the time
>hostile forces gaining full control of the ship easily, even though they had no prior knowledge of it
Don't get me wrong there were some goddamn great episodes. It could have been so much better.
it was the 60s, give them a break

it was cancelled twice in three years
what did you expect?

Remember, this was a time when sci-fi was either weird 2001 shit, or dumb nerdy shit for dorks. Star Trek stood out at the time.

>all of their advanced technology not working 95% of the time
>hostile forces gaining full control of the ship easily, even though they had no prior knowledge of it
There wouldn't be much tension or excitement if everything went smoothly and they instantly obliterated any threat with no resistance.
TNG was much worse with their reliance on the Holodeck to fuel plots.
I'll be the first to admit that TOS hasn't aged well. But criticizing it out of context still sounds a bit like complaining that Hemingway's writing style is too simple and ordinary, or Shakespeare's work is riddled with cliches.

TOS is great even when it's bad. Great characters, cool designs, and maximum comfy. There is literally no better show to chill to
>tfw hubby won't watch star trek because "it's a chick show for liberals and faggots"
>tfw printed out an episode guide for her and found it in the trash two days later

Are you a fat, middle-class woman in her mid-30's?

This. It's character driven, i can't even remember any bad plots because the characters are so great, and the ambience is so comfy.
I think that's why I hated TAS, because there were no live actors and the animation was so bad.
Don't forget to vote in the Star Trek movie poll.

Which thread was yours? The other TOS thread expired naturally as 30 Game of Thrones threads were posted.

TOS is simply the best and most iconic. The other spinoffs can't compete; hell, normies already forgot about all of them.
Why do you think the JJ Abrams movies are so successful? TOS.
>normies
pig disgusting

Really? TOS in my opinion is the series that has aged the best.
Because of it's 60s camp, you let it get away with a lot more. It's also just a fun show with awesome design aesthetic.
TNG on the other hand is so fucking 80s in every way it's painful. Terrible 80s design, a fucking therapist on the command crew, shitty tape quality.
>It's Damar! It's Damar drinkin kanar!

Don't forget control consoles that explode whenever somebody sneezes. That's one massive design flaw right there.
