That's probably because nothing is happening. Toss in a random death for show, show 5 minutes with everyone, but avoid progressing the plot and just show people they're still alive--for now, and move on.
It's actually to the point I no longer feel like I want to wait until next week to see what will happen, because I know nothing will until episode 8, if we're lucky.
