Boba Fett not having a decent fight scene. He has all these cool gadgets, but never uses any of them. It seems like a waste of a character.

It's impossible to figure out how much time passes in ESB and with the two stories any guess is either too long or too short.

i have two criticisms

1. ESB doesn't do the best job showing that Luke spent months on Dagobah training with Yoda

2. ewoks in ROTJ instead of wookies

thats about it.

>Death Star 2 becomes something else, like a new Super Star Destroyer.
>Plan becomes to ambush a small segment of the Imperial fleet while lightly defended in a backwater system and assassinate or capture the Emperor.
>Leia gets SOMETHING to do, maybe related to discovering the Force.
>Ground battle is more intense and desperate, not goofy and pathetic.

RotJ is now a perfect movie.

All the terrible changes they made to Return of the Jedi. Sny Snootles, Carooscant etc

I guess I don't think there were enough ships in new hope or return of the jedi.

I never understood Lucas's claim that the wookies would be too advanced to be in the Ewok's place. Just have the decedents of a crashed wookie ship that's been missing for millennia or something so they've reverted to a more feral state like other cast-aways.

ewoks

nothing in ESB was bad, it was a literal masterpiece

ANH was pretty good too
>>
>>68986896
The battle of Hoth honestly. I even started to yawn, there just wasn't enough for me to care about during the actual battle itself. The bits with Luke were great, but I didn't care about any of the other pilots it was just boring to watch them keep biting it.

Han and Leia's "relationship" as well. The whole movie Leia is playing hard to get for Han, and for fucking what? No really, for fucking WHAT. On one hand Han looks like a fucking creep, on the other Leia comes off as completely juvenile for not being honest with herself. Leia then telling Han she loves him before he may or may not die, but when did she grow to love him? We haven't seen one iota of that love.

Why would they have to be at a tribal stage? If it's that the Empire would have wiped them out if they saw them as a threat, make them slaves and beasts of burden. Endor was hard for the walkers to work in, and Wookies are naturals in forest climates, so they'd be more useful than droids.

The PT follows in the legacy of the great epic films like Ben Hur, the 10 commandments, and Spartacus, films that were truly aimed at the higher classes and others who could truly appreciate the arts. OT is just a collage of B-movie references with broad appeal. Gunslingers from Westerns, ninjas from kung fu movies, pilots from lowbrow rah-rah WWII movies. It's no wonder that OT is praised by people who have only a superficial knowledge of film language because it presents them only with references to their favorite lowbrow movies. PT is more challenging because it aspires to higher art and its references are taken more from the world of high culture and film art.

In summary, the difference between PT and OT is that PT are FILMS and the OT are MOVIES.

A New Hope: Nothing, it's perfect. It is not often acknowledged as the best Star Wars movie, but it ought to be.

Empire Strikes Back: the plot twist with Vader being Luke's father was shocked but ultimately it doesn't really make sense. It contradicts too much of what we learn about Anakin in A New Hope, hence the goodfriendposting, and, I'd argue, a lot of the problems in the prequels. Anakin and Vader are separate characters.

Harrison Ford was probably right to think that Han should have died, if for no other reason than his rescue in the next movie is convoluted.

Granted these two are "problems" to me because I don't like how they affect the rest of the franchise. Otherwise Empire is also a perfect movie.

Return of the Jedi: the shit with Jabba's palace and the Sarlacc pit drags on for too long and doesn't have enough relevance to the events in the rest of the movie.

Instead of Endor and another Death Star, we should have gotten pic related.

The film should have been directed by David Lynch.
>>
This is only noticeable in retrospect after the prequels and is I think what TFA was aping too much, but the galaxy in the OT felt empty. That's why Bespin felt un-Star Warsy, it was too clean, too populated, too civilized. Every plannet besides that is a desert, a swamp, a forest, a glacier.
In the prequels we were treated to all these big cities with crowds in them, just average citizens in Naboo, Coruscant or Utapau going about their business. In the originals everywhere we go is either wild territory, a hidden outpost or a lone mining colony.
This is where TFA tripped over its own intestines, where every planet (except Jakku, oddly) feels like it has a population of 20 swarming around a plot element. In Coruscant or Bespin people felt like humans, in Takonada or whatever you call it everyone seemed to exist only around the main cast. The bar tenants of Kanata's castle magically disappear after the nu-Empire attacks. The population of Starkiller Base serves to listen to Ginger Hitler. The people on nu-Coruscant exist only to be blown up.

When you consider the fact the special effect was hard to do, and everyone involved thought Star Wars was silly and would flop hard (it became the highest grossing movie of all time, to everyone's surprise), it does the job okay. It's not amazing, but it does the job of conveying the story. I'm sure 38 years ago people found it very tense really.

>Second Death Star

One big difference about the sword fighting is that George wanted lightsabers to be very heavy, that's why in the OT duels they swing them around like sledgehammers hitting walls and stuff. In the prequels I guess he ditched that idea

The existence of more than one wookiee in the galaxy, and seeing what planet they lived on, especially if it retconned the entirety of the holiday special, would've been bitched about only by contrarian idiots.
>>
>>69000245
I'm almost positive you just described something that exists.
>>
>>68986896
The last act of ANH was so lackluster.

>shoot the position and we go home

Also the way they designed the death star so all u hav to do is turn off shields and shoot correct spot (same as force awakens facepalm).
>>
>>69000380
Nope no fanedit like that exits as i am aware of.
>>
>>68986896
remember that scene where the teddy bears thought C3PO was a god and they were all worshipping him, and Luke used his Jedi powers to make C3PO levitate as a demonstration that he was angry at them for not letting his friends go?

Thanks, George Lucas.
>>
>>69000486
Give it time. Star Wars gets a fanedit every twelve days.
>>
>>69000317
KEK yea that is supposed to settle it?
>>
>>68986896
The worst thing about the OT is that Billy Dee can't pronounce "Han" right and some of the other actors started doing it in Empire and Jedi but not consistently enough to be a retcon if that was intended. Bugs the shit outta me.
>>
>>68987977
You also forgot Kylo saying to Poe
>"Comfortable"?

And BB8 giving the thumbs up to Finn
>>
>>68988038
Annd Han was the less interesting in Return because he was originally meant to die or be permanently blind after Leia freed him as it was stated in the original script.
>>
>>68988066
You would be whiny too if you never were able to look at some power converters
>>
>>68988084
What do u mean?

If u mean how the entire empire gets destroyed when yet in episode 7 it shows they obs didnt then you are correct.

I predict Disney to remake the entire old films to better suit their new canon.

>the horror
>>
>>68987977
Most of Finn and Han's lines were quips...
>>
>>68986896
During most battle sequences involving no-name grunts, there is no semblance of tactics or survival instinct on the part of the soldiers.

Just kinda sucks the tension out for me.
>>
Why is there so much retarded pew pew shooting and so many bad scenes of running around in the Death Star like retards in ANH?

ANH is easily the weakest film from the original trilogy
>>
>>68988303
Finally I found a kino comment
>>
>>69000861
This so much.

>>69000897
Agreed, but it's written off as "we let them escape."
>>
>>69000633
Yes. Owen was definitely pounding that prime boypussy on a daily basis.
>>
>>68988509
Damnit anon you should have written Episode 6.

That palace would have been the most amazing thing as after all each film in a trilogy is meant to progress higher than the other.

Lucas thought a forest world would be great right after we saw a movie with a city high up in the clouds?

THE MADMAN

Han Solo when he just swoops in and wrecks darth vader and his escort ties without even regarding like the 20,000 turbo laers and shit in a massive saucer like ship

HOW

it was close to the exhaust as well since Luke fired the proton torpedoes a few moments after,

so he may have theoretically been able to solo the death star

no pun intended
>>
>>69003260
Han confirmed for Mary Sue?
>>

>>
>>69003260
every time vader and his TIEs engaged the rebels in the trench the imperials turned off their turbolasers so they don't friendly fire

they say it right in the movie when one of the x-wing guys says "they've stopped" and the other wingmen instantly say to balance out their rear shields because they know fighters are coming

They lead to Lucas making the prequels.

Honest awnser, they whole Leah being Luke's sister. It was retarded and added nothing other than, Lucas tying to recapture the shock of Vader being Luke's father.

>>69000835
>mean how the entire empire gets destroyed
This doesn't happen in canon or Legends.

This is kind of unrelated but i was listening to the Revenge of the Sith commentary and George was referring to lightsabers as "Laser Swords".

What's up with George?

How badly they are directed (except for ESB ofc)

>>69001781
It wasn't as good as the prequels, not even remotely as dark as episode III. That shit was like, really dark.
>>
>>69003899
still a piss poor excuse...certainly you can turn the lasers inside the trench off while the ones outside still operate after vader enters the trench safely....like come on..simple shit so that the exact thing that han does doesn't happen lol.

The best duel is far and away the one on cloud city. Even if we ignore the plot twist, even if we ignore it has the best choreography (the bit when luke spazes out on vader at the end of jedi is amazing but before that they are just clearly hitting left right left right at each other like children pretending to sword fight, also >prequels...the athleticism is cool but it suffers from so much kung fu movie logic and there's 0 heart in any of those duels...or films), even if we ignore it has the best visuals and atmosphere, it has this really cool amping up effect.

First Vader holds his saber in one hand and goes super easy on luke, seeing what he can do. After he's intimidated and disarmed him once, but luke impresses him by avoiding being carbonite frozen he instructs luke to unleash all his rage and vader has to hold his saber properly and take luke semi seriously. After all that, he decides to see if the boy can deal with combining magic and sword fighting. Luke can't and is btfo in seconds. But vader was STILL only testing him. He then decides he knows enough about luke's abilities and decides it's time to end the duel. Luke gets fucked up and loses a hand, again in seconds.

Empire is actually overall a weaker film than Star Wars, and people over rate it heavily for I think this scene and all the romantic tension (plus boba, who is cool but uselss). It suffers from a lack of direction overall and feels slightly too long and ends in slightly too bleak a manner. But it definitely has the best duel.

>The force is with you young skywalker, but you are not a jedi yet

From that moment you know it will be a glorious beatdown, and it does not dissapoint once.
>>
>>69006370
Nah, ROTJ duel > ESB duel

The latter one has moments that make it look dated.

George is autistic.
>>
I dislike the casting of Luke and leia.

Dislike Chewbacca and jabba as characters.

Dislike the pacing of all three films overall.

Dislike the fight choreography, I'm sure the lightsabers made up for it in the 70s but I didn't see that shit as a 10 year old back then or a teen in the 80s.

Dislike the retarded weakness of the deathstar and storm trooper aim.

I'm sure I could list more if I had seen them more recently. Haven't watch any of them in 8-9 years.
>>
>>69006370
>Empire is actually overall a weaker film than Star Wars
Eh, no.
>>
>>69004579
It wasn't for shock so much as a way of writing around the "No, there is another" line in Empire. Since Lucas decided he's end the story in the third movie and he didn't really have room to introduce a new character.

They were just retro quips.
