I'm about to make a feature length film with a small budget. I have about $750, a blackmagic pocket cinema camera, and all the audio and lighting equipment I will need. I am choosing a lens and I have narrowed it down to buying the Sigma 18-35mm or a couple of rokinon cine lenses such as the 16mm t2.2. Which should I go for or am I missing something big?

The script
Rokinon, primes better than zooms. Higher cost, try renting a set with multiple lenses.

The Sigma is handy as all hell but it really depends on what you're trying to shoot in the first place.

I make shitty animated shorts on YouTube and for some Facebook page if that counts.

I finished a couple shorts for my Intro To Digital Video/Digital Storytelling classes, and it's awoken something in me. I'm fucking hype to start writing and shooting shorts over this summer.

The /fmg/ threads have produced some great advice.
So I'm gonna be working on shorts, but I can't decide: Should I try and make a fun, violent action movie right from the get-go, or should I cut my teeth on surreal comedies to try and figure out how cinematography works and what my style is?
