Their characters are 'iconic' in their depiction and therefore simply aren't allowed to have the nasty soul searching questions asked of them the same way Marvel constantly drops Stark, Rogers, Richards, etc., into the emotional shitgrinder. Thus they repeat their major arcs far faster than Marvel, and reboot every 5 years as well.
It's boring reading DC. Besides the shallow level of involvement you just get the feeling you're re-reading a rehash of a storyline from a decade ago anyway.

I agree. One of the good things about Jappo comics is they are more or less seen as the creation of the author, sure the publishers get involved, and sometimes the companies make movies that aren't really cannon. But basically the author has control and when he dies or end the story that's it.
American comics are owned by the publishers and there isn't really any reason to read because everything will be retconned or made into a new universe or whatever. So that everything stays the status quo.
Which is I guess one reason why they are going full SJW for shock value. Sort of like how they killed characters off in the 80s and 90s to sell issues, only for them to come back.
