The Sentinels just drive the plot so well. They heighten the shit out of everything in the movie. They reminded me of the Agents when they would show up in the Matrix. You just knew people were about to die.
I don't think Apocalypse can top DoFP. It just comes off as Ivan Ooze vs the Power Rangers who will use the mightiest power of all to stop him- the power of team work.

It's pretty hard to make the antagonists intimidating enough to shake the viewers iron-clad certainty that there will be a happy ending. What makes Agents/Sents so effective is their predatory presence they don't waste any time and instead go right for the kill with terrifying efficiency.

This movie is actually turning point for Mistique/JLaw apperience. In old trilogy she was looking amazing and sexy as hell. In First Class she was young so it's ok. But since Days of the Future Past she started to look really ugly like a fat old saggy milf. They also fuck up her hair somehow, just look at the poster.
Judging from the trailers in Aplcalypse it's even worse.

I had high expectations about DOFP and it didn't deliver. It has top action scenes and few really good concepts like Quicksilver but overall it lack vision and it wasn't such fresh attempt as the First Class.
Overall I liked First Class better, it's like an origin movie and it did everything right. It's also less fucked up by made up bullshit like Xavier and Magneto conflict in DOFP.
