Season 4 isn't that bad but it's clearly a step down.
It's main problem being the last half of ASOS stretched way out and supplemented with shitty OC.
If they had started some of the AFFC and ADWD stuff then it would have been better.
There's also the obsession with making episode 9 be some epic climax which also drags things out. In the book the battle of the wall starts pretty much immediately when Jon gets back but in the show its postponed and we just get a lot of scenes of the nights watch waiting around
Season 3 was a slight step-down from Season 2, but still has its moments. The red Wedding is basically the last real standout moment before it all turns to shit.
The first thing was the dick removal. That's disgusting. Then Viper got that shit death. That sucked. That's the only reason I can't watch it anymore. Viper was the best character and the one guy got his dick chopped. Ramsey probably won't ever get what's coming to him either. Probably going to be a stab to the heart after someone calls him a bastard a bunch of times.

At least the drama and conflicts in the first 2 seasons were good watches, and Tirion was this witty and intelligent character doing everything he could to hold everything and everyone together, instead of the boring le drunk midget xd archetype he's been playing as the past 2 or 3 seasons.

The first 2 seasons were fine, since they were still in the process of establishing and building the world, and most of the events that occurred made sense.
I'd say the first real weak part of the show would be a Theon turning traitor for no real good reason. But afterwards, season 3 just had a long string of extremely weak segments, where the only memorable parts were Jaime getting his hand axed off, and the Red Wedding.

The sad thing is that one of the few redeeming things about last season was that Kit Harrington was finally starting to really grow into his role and his performance as Jon was actually one of the better performances on the show.

I can kinda understand why, George would write and rewrite until an idea was polished, and it comes across in quality of the story.

Season 3. Season 1 was the best, but season 2 still continued the good writing and development of s1, even with the changes from the books.
