Dude, whatever you ever do is framed by the context of you it, that includes a timeframe within your life span, so even if you reject the tennants of cool or acceptable that were in place when your opinions or, ultimately beliefs, were been define, there will always be a bias towards those norms, even if only because other options were outside the realm of your imagination.
Anyway, try of considering the ratings with that in mind, in the end it does not count what he says, neither what you or I say, for in the end enjoyment or appreciation of a piece of art is in how you and each one sees it.
