For me was when Iron man 3 was hyped so hard. I dled it when it came out, put it on one night when i was bored. When RDJ started dancing to jingle bells something clicked and i fucking lost it. How many of these films had I already seen? How long had I been kidding myself that it was 'just fun' for? Why, at 20, was I watching garbage made for children and morons? Never again capeshit, never again.

Because earl Jojo was MANLY. And more itneresting than anything Hokuto no Ken could offer.
Yes, the series did get more estrogen fueled because of Part 4, but, and I hate to say it, but: I prefer Joseph Joestar over Kenshiro. To me, he was THE Jojo of Parts 2 and 3.
People remember one or two then keep going back to them thinking the next iteration might be good as well
