Most it wasn't "hidden." Snyder is incredibly blunt with his symbolism and allegory, which wouldn't be that big of a deal if it had a coherent plot or any semblance of storytelling/technical proficiency.

Like all the sexual imagery in MoS that's connotative of birth? He was even nice enough to smack us in the face with a really overt use of phallic imagery to wake everyone up early on to look for more subtle uses later on, but somehow tons of people still missed it.
