First of all let me start out by saying that BvS is in my opinion a masterpiece. Now to the average moviegoer I can understand why they would come away thinking it was bad. The film is highly kinetic and allegorical. You're supposed to think beyond the images presented on the screen. For example, the scene in which Lex presents the jar of piss to the Senator represents so much more than what is on screen. The jar of piss is Lex's vision of Superman. It has been dressed up as "Granny's Peach Tea" just as Superman has been packaged as an All-American symbol of freedom and justice. But beneath the veneer it smells of piss. But to the average moviegoer, they will look at this scene and say "HAHA! PISS BOTTLES EWWWW" with no regard for the greater motivations and images portrayed in this character drama.
Now, the reason I am worried is because WB now believes that this type of intellectually stimulating and philosophically moving cinematography is not appreciated by the masses. The masses want quips, explosions, smart-alecks, jock, stereotypes, punchy punchy boom boom. The masses can't comprehend Snyder's masterfully crafted Biblical symbolism.
The masses want Marvel.
And this wouldn't be a problem, since this is a consumer market. I can choose to buy my authentic imported biscotti instead of that artificial Oreo's nonsense. But the problem is if the biscotti manufacturers suddenly looked at Oreo's sales and said "hey, we need to start pumping our biscotti full of garbage artificial cream!"

Now that Civil War has a 100% RT score (no thanks in large part due to corrupt critics taking that Disney dollar) WB is shifting its DCEU to ape the candyfloss Marvel universe. This is exactly what is happening with Suicide Squad right now, with the reshoots. And this is likely what will happen to the DCEU after Justice League. Thank God at least Zack will be able to do another masterpiece before WB backstabs him. And what we'll be left with are inferior mass market appeal movies designed to chase after the Marvel audience and failing.
I'm sick of it. We've been robbed of tremendous potential. All to movies designed to sell toys and make children laugh. It's pathetic.

comon, it is obvious that RT was payed off at this point, but to implicate that BvS was a masterpiece is going a bit too far.
The movie is certainly not bad, but its not goty. Its somewhere at 7/10 to 8/10 in my opinion. It was definitely worth the movie ticket.
From the trailers however, I expect civil war to be worse than this though. Seeing as how they bribed RT, I think that it must be worse if they do not dare to face competition openly.
So in a way, their bribe already negatively shaped the opinion of civil war. Nice going there disney.

I know this is bait, obviously. I just wanted to point out that even the sarcastic people that makes pasta about over-analyzed deeper symbolism and non-existent "foreshadowing " in DC movies, specifically the new shared universe ones, should agree that those elements don't work in narrative films if there is no consistent plot, character motivations are vague at best and only tenuous connections and spontaneous plot turns keep the narrative thread going between wild changes of context as exemplified by said movies.
While I agree there are films where these elements are not as important this clearly is not the case, as the explicit purpose of this franchise, of this studio of this director, etc is to tell a story. These are bad movies simply because they fail to tell an interesting history at their core, even if all other supposedly highbrow elements were actually there, the movies still fall short of their goal. With all its cliches and simplicity the MCU has triumphed because it tells a mostly consistent history and has interesting and/or well understood characters.
