They studios just try and give them a little more appeal to the mainstream than to just "le ebin gaymers" They also have no faith in the projects so they hire bargain basement directors, writers and for the most part actors (an occasional big name among vidya movies)
The end result is a rushed studio meddled in mess thats generic as fuck and bearing little resemblance to the video game it was based upon.

Like I said the director needs to know the backstory and the lore to make a great movie. Us Warcraft fans are going be be looking out for that stuff. Especially since Warcraft has a very extensive lore behind it. Plus look at Blizzard's game trailers, they are amazing, like 10x better than most of the stuff the movie industry pumps out.
Also I'm very skeptical about the Assassin's Creed movie, I have a bad feeling about it. If it's set back in Altair's time then it will be cool, other than that I just don't see it working
