Please explain to me why the fuck they were on foot in this scene.
They were on horses when they went to meet the messenger, which means they made a conscious decision to get on foot, and also ordered all the Rohirrim to get on foot.

If I'm about to be stabbed to death, I'd rather not fall off a horse, too.

Because Jackson know shit about ancient warfare.
>>68865204
Because in the book, they use 2 tiny "hills" to make 2 defensive formations, since they lost alot of soldiers in Pelenor. The orcs in mordor were alot, like alot.
It was essentially a "buy time" move, not supposed to be tactically sound.

Because you can't effectively deploy cavalry if you're encircled.
The value of cavalry is massively overstated. The only advantage of cavalry is the mobility and the initial impetus of a charge. If a horseman gets caught in melee with an infantryman, he's at a huge disadvantage.

Whoever decided to make a fucking mongolian steppe the pelennor fields needs to get shot desu.
>>68865560
do you even understand what a "field" is?
>>68865204
because regardless of what happened, they would die at that day with no escape. the horses stayed to help the people of Mordor escape with supplies

Fuck off cuck.
In the books, the area outside pelennor was rich farmland, which would have had a few houses to store grain, and many large fields that would have been sown or planted already.
you're stupid as fuck and have never read the books, so stop talking and let the adults speak
