Why does /tv/ hate this? Sure it's reusing a similar formula and making it less likely for more artistic cinema to be created but the whole thing is incredible, nobody has ever tried a project so large and so ambitious in all of history. It wont last forever so appreciate it for what a momentous event in film this is.

i really don't know what people mean when they talk about the Marvel formula. Is it the tone? The constant quality. People make it seem so easy yet every other studio seems to fail applying it. Cape films and blockbusters sucked horribly in the early 2000s. You may have forgotten it but i don't. Films like Daredevil, X-Men 3, Pearl Harbor, Godzilla that mostly only worked for 6 year olds. You still see these type of films pop up every now and then. And they bomb horribly like Terminator 5. Marvel is not art house but they do a great job in keeping all their films fresh and interesting for the mainstream audience.

Whether fanboys will admit it or not, it gets the look right, it even occasionally gets a characterization right, but it rapes the heart right out of its own source material and paints any actual compelling issues that they could bring to the table with the superficial glibness of a sitcom's "very special episode."
