It's a valid point, the Avengers Cap costume was bafflingly terrible.
Although my personal controversial opinion is that this is a horrible design for Iron Man and a massive step backwards from the first two films. I don't get why everyone fellates it as hard as they do.

Joss sent this almost-perfect design to the scrapyard on-screen because his feelings were hurt by the triangular reactor window. Yes, really.
It's a good example of how little he really knows of comics, he tried to claim the circular reactor was much more 'symbolic' of the character, completely ignoring that many of the best Iron Man comics and storylines featured armours with a triangle motif.
