What's the best runtime for a film and why is it 90 minutes ?

72 minutes.
>>
Action movie : 90 minutes
Movie that has a plot and isn't some kind of nostalgia cashgrab : 120 minutes or more
>>
3hrs+
>>
>>68844847
as long as quality of the movie stays good.
>>
>>68844847
It's 240 minutes.
I watched an Indonesian puppet show, and it last from 8PM to 4PM.
>>
>>68845039
I meant 4AM.

Depends on the movie

And I think the convention that a movie needs to be at least 80 minutes harms some films, especially comedies.

Likewise for epics being cut down to 2.5 hours so the studio can have more showings.
>>
120 minutes
>>
>>68844847
3 hours

90 to 120

Depends on the story. If it's just a popcorn flick then 90 minutes. If it's a film it can be either 90 minutes or 120 minutes.

90 minutes sucks ass. if the movie's good i'm disappointed because it was too short. sure, if the movie's bad a short run time is good but i'd rather watch a long good movie than a short bad one.
>>
>>68845948
also, the best run time is anywhere between 135 and 150.
>>
>>68844847
>when i'm forced to watch a movie with my wife
as short as possible, definitely <90min
>when it's a genuinely good movie
don't care. but longer than 3 hours is too much for one sitting.

Is anyone else having more and more trouble just giving a fuck about a movie's characters and story with all the great tv these days? It's just too small of a timeframe for me to actually care about them and feel genuine compassion for the characters or feel like i'm being immersed into their world. It rarely cuts for me anymore unless it's a film that truly requires the audience to be imaginative and fill in the blanks were necessary rather than spoonfeeding them with dumb exposition and hamfisted storylines throughout the film. It might sound like a joke but action movies like Dredd, John Wick and Fury Road does these things perfectly. Or films like Stalker, The Cure or 2001. Otherwise i just can't be bothered with them these days.

i like hitchcock's quote about a film lnegths should be beased on the draubility of human blddder
>>
Anywhere short of 3 hours is good. after 3 hours it starts to get tough but I can endure it if the film is good, I'll also take a short break in the middle.

>>
>>68844847
It's 90 mins, I don't really like the recent trend where people make films around 2 and a half hours long desu
>>
>>68846376
I read that without hesitation.
Looked back at it and kek'd.
>>
whenever a movie feels too long I just play it in 2x or 4x speed desu

So a joint falls into the cinematography category, nice one, retard
>>
>>68847109
No, silly. Each category has an ideal runtime. Some are suited for longer or shorter run-times. Joints have a larger suitable range, but that doesn't make them patrician.

>>68847165
Oh I see you now, sorry, I'm the retard
