it's one of /tv/s favorite films.
>>68838780
nobody hates the thing
I embarrassingly always confuse Carpenter and Cameron. Like for periods I've thought Carpenter did Aliens and Cameron did Big trouble.
I watched Dark Star last week thinking it was a very old Cameron movie, and then realized pretty quickly it wasn't. Great fucking film though.
Wow no love for Escape
YOU ARE THE KING OF NEW YORK, YOU ARE A NUMBER ONE
>>68838038
Big Trouble
Little China
Halloween

The Thing - one of the best horror films of all time, with some of the greatest vfx ever put to film. The work of a master.
Mouth of Madness - Truly insane lovecraftian horror, one of the few films that are able to pull it off.
They Live - Excellent film, that transcends the medium to become a cultural product that will live for generations.
The Thing
Big Trouble In Little China
In the Mouth of Madness
This is the correct order.
Collector's Edition bluray when? Why didn't they just transfer the special features from the dvd over to the blu ray?
Halloween
The Thing
They Live

I do because I like characterization and am not easily impressed by a clay figure covered in goo.

>15 hours in paint

Because there is no sense of stakes and the monster's abilities are incredibly inconsistent.
Are directors in denial about their shelf-life?
JC was untouchable during his pot years.
Then we got Escape from LA.

Board is full of contrarian faggots that love to smell their own farts. Any film that appears to get lauded soon gets shit on, only to snap back after summer or in response to other contrarian faggot boards.
in the mouth of madness is underrated
also, Lost Themes II is GOAT
>>68838038
Unpopular opinion but I hate "They Live", the social comenatry was so heavy handed and on the nose.
IMO:
1) The Thing
2) Escape From New York
3) [Another slightly unpopular opinion] The Fog
>>68838396
He didn't even write let along direct Halloween III although, it is super under rated
>>68838419
Try hard who thinks, "unpopular opinion / something most people disagree with = patrician"
>>68838530
My niggah, although I'd put BTiLC slightly above Precinct 13, but that is my opinion and by the very nature of the thread is subjective
>>68838558
> I'll say his most popular movie which had insane levels of dedication and craft is the worst and "Redditcore" That way people will think in edgy and patrician
Fuck off...
>all these anons saying Prince of Darkness because they want to be edgy and different
Prince of Darkness was one of his worst films.
1) The Thing
2) Escape from New York
3) They Life
escape from la

>>68838038

Assault on Precinct 13Escape from New York is my fav, though
Am I the only one who likes the fog?
>>68843228

>>68838038
1. The Thing
2. Big Trouble in Little China
3. Escape from New York
I can't do it. Carpenter's secretly one of the five best directors ever in cinema. Each of his pictures for a twenty year period or so are essentially on par with each other, which wouldn't be so rare except that they're all instant classics, exceptional exercises and manipulations of the medium. John Carpenter is the man who animated all the vampires in Edward Hopper. The dude who got away with basically fictionalizing Foucault during the height of the Yuppies as a sci-fi movie. Who did Italian Horror better than Argento and pointedly the way Fulci wishes he could have done it. The sort of motherfucker who now sits around all day playing Call of Duty and chain smoking American Spirits because he goddamn earned it.
I love John Carpenter.
>>68843803
a real human bean
>>68843228
I liked it, but I wouldnt say I would rewatch it in the next 10 years. Story is really primitive.
