DUDE, INCREASINGLY ELABORATE PRANKS THAT ARE EXTREMELY CHILDISH AND UNPROFESSIONAL WHILE FEINTING INTEREST AND SECRETLY HARBORING A FALSE SENSE OF SUPERIORITY

the cringiest part of this show isn't Micheal's antics, it's Jim and Pam's bullshit during the first few seasons. whenever I do a re-watch I always skip past those parts

that's literally the joke you mega autist
I've always held that Jim was the writers' main vehicle for audience self insertion. The whole character is supposed to draw in viewers to the stranger characters over time by making them feel a lot of relation to the character. They do this by making him "see what you wanna see" : the character. Everyone loves Jim their first go around then grow to dislike him more and more. I admire the fact that the show took steps to convey that the character wasn't perfect later on, such as with him being really whiny about getting pranked back, etc.

Jim comes off as kind of a tool as the series goes on. Without him actively wooing Pam, he doesn't really do anything except act superior to everyone and mock them. Pam ends up the one trying to be everyone's friend. Jim actively leaves a conversation with one of his co workers breaking down because, as he tells to the camera crew later, "it was really boring."
It was pretty satisfying to see him show genuine care for the other characters when it happens though.
was Jim a cuck?

yes

it's really not though. even when they did touch upon this it was very brief and minute. Jim is literally what the writers think the average person should be
