How can one man beat a monolithic company like Disney when they have an IP like Star Wars? He didn't even do it just once but twice.

How did he do it?

He's the most normie director out there that's why.

Other directors have vision, artistic style, making them a niche group appealing only to plebs.

This fucker knows what the average normie, namely 98% of the movie audience wants.

He such a succes because he's the most uniquely mediocre person alive.

Ever hear him speak? There is nothing interesting or about him whatsoever.

>>
>>68804017
Oh?

Titanic was re-released in 2012 and Avatar was pure 3D hype, that's how.
>>
>>68804048
Spielberg is a dirty jew money hungry grub. He is like an alien pretending to be human, manipulating people out of there money. He studies trends and mimics them. But he isn't one of them.

Cameron is an actual human, who deosn't care about money in the first place. He cares about making movies that appeal to him and all the mindless drones like him.
>>
>>68804048

Spielbergian is a thing. Cameronian is not. Eat shit.
>>
>>68804094
Star Wars had the biggest jew marketing campaign of all time and still couldn't beat Based Jim.

Titanic was the highest earning film ever made when it came out. That's why it was re-released.
>>
>>68803957
damn overseas.

i think the asians fuck love the living fuck outta titanic and obviously avatar.

Star Wars is just a shity anime to them there.

Yeah, and the re-release counts towards the gross? I'd say "let's see what happens when they re-release TFA in 15 years" but we'll be on like Episode XIV by then.
>>
>>68804188
Nobody would want to watch Star Wars again.

Also the re-release didn't earn that much. Oh by the way, that figure isn't even adjusted for inflation. Star Wars BTFO.

It hadn't broken $2billion before the re-release.

Robert Rodriguez is making that now.

I believe the "highest-grossing film of all time" is widely accepted to refer to the highest-grossing film of all time worldwide, not domestic (which is becoming increasingly more and more irrelevant).

JC is the antithesis of the jew
>>
>>68804026

This is the best way I've ever seen it put. At least, this is what he turned into. He's similar to Spielberg, but Spielberg is more prolific and his movies still seem to have some kind of a pulse.

Cameron's movies used to have personality to them but he now seems to live for mass-appeal big budget films that almost seem sterile in a way, like they were the result of hundreds of focus group studies. Titanic and Avatar are two of the most soulless movies I've ever seen.
>>
>>68805049

Show me worldwide "adjusted" then, genius.

>>68805098

Worldwide was never implied, it was cropped to have SW up top and Titanic at the bottom.

The Terminator (1984)
Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985)
Aliens (1986)
The Abyss (1989)
Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)
True Lies (1994)
Titanic (1997)
Avatar (2009)

Some of the most influential movies.... but a lot of it I think has great appeal to Japan... which is weird, but it helps the global box office.

>>68805173
>implying "muh domestic" isn't the weak, indefensible, and laughable default argument of the average star wars manchild
>>
>>68805195

I was specifically speaking of 1997-Present James Cameron. I don't even think Titanic and Avatar are bad movies, I just think they're all style with no real substance. I didn't feel anything watching either of them. Every emotion they tried to convey felt manufactured.

I like his earlier stuff, though.
>>
>>68803957
he's the most patrician funcore filmmaker
>>
>>68805210

Didn't imply anything, just called you out.

>>68805192

You can't show me worldwide adjusted, and adjusted domestic SW was a Fox release.
>>
Better blockbuster filmmaker than Jewberg Spiel.
>>
>>68804545
Meh, I'm kind of anti-hype now. Rodriguez is too callous and excessive and doesn't have the human touch that Gunnm needs.

It might be an okay flick, but he definitely won't capture the spirit of the manga or anime.
>>
>>68803957
When Avatar first came out, people loved it. Now they hate it.

When Titanic first came out, people loved it. Then they hated it. Now they love it again.

When The Force Awakens came out, people loved it. Now they hate it.
>>
>>68805329
well that because titanic he just wanted to find the wreckage, so he made a movie to fund it.

avatar was he wanted to have fun with 3d cameras.

thats it, the movies were sort of a lark, he just wanted to make money, he's said as much.
>>
>>68806746
>the human touch that Gunnm needs.

There's a giant laser firing robopenis in that series, lay off with your bullshit, not to mention Motorball.

"human touch."

Fuck off, seriously.
>>
>>68806899
Baka gaijin. You are the reason that anime shouldn't be adapted... period.
>>
>>68806881

No doubt about that, and most people would do the same if they had the resources but I don't know why /tv/ praises him. That's everything wrong with filmmaking.
