The way they offhandedly mentioned near the end that if you get killed in dreams you die in real life, then had a bunch of soldiers and fortresses and shit appear as well to give them some real opposition. IIRC it all manifests very quickly and suddenly too at the end.
It felt to me as a kind of forced way to give it an exciting finish with a life/death struggle element. Because it was all still just dreams up to that point.
