Wish they could have done something different to keep the series interesting. It got uninteresting fast.
>>
what?
>>
>>68784834
I hope it ends up being great the first two films were good.
>>
Starring Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Geoffrey Rush, Paul McCartney, and Javier Bardem
>>
>>68784884
On Stranger Tides was pretty good, in my opinion.
>>
>>68784994
yeah it was enjoyable

Beautiful looking films though. I didn't particularly care for them but bought them all to enjoy the TV blu ray/5.1 system I got a good few years back.

>>
WAKE ME UP INSIDE
>>
Haven't seen the whole series in a while, but I feel like skipping Dead Man's Chest and therefore speeding along the romance bullshit between Turner and Elizabeth would've helped it stay interesting.
>>
>>68785440
I can't even tell the difference between the titles at this point. All a big blur of Rum, Jack sparrow, and water.
>>
>>68784834
first movie is the only good one. the others only had cool ship fights but even that went to shit once they added blackbeard
>>
>>68785641
I agree, but each movie at least had some cool parts to them. For example, the very beginning of On Stranger Tides.

At World's End had the pirate meeting and Calypso before she turned into a giant - that shit was goofy

Haven't watched Dead Man's Chest in years, but I'm sure it has at least one.

Should have ended at 3, now it's on life support

the 2nd one is my favourite. The krake n and Davey Jones are so damn well made also the soundtrack is amazing especially the moment when the kraken breaks a ship in half

Good. She was awful. Her taking the Chinese pirate's place was ridiculous.
>>
>>68786749
Her novelty wore off after the first movie.
>>
They shouldve just plagiarized an arc from one piece. Kids will lap it up.
>>
>>68787191
Then the movie would be 10 hours long.
>>
Her character was only good in the first movie.
>>
>>68787314
You couldn't be more wrong.
>>
>>68784967
World's End was GOAT as hell, nigga.

Also Lone Ranger and Rango are insanely underrated.
>>
>>68784994
It was actually a good movie, but didn't feel like PotC, mainly because the whole priest and mermaid characters were some of the most blatant filler ever, and because they're only on ships for like a tenth of the movie if that.

But imagine if you had never seen any of the other movies. Stranger Tides would seem pretty good.

I thought making Blackbeard less sinister than expected was an interesting choice. Still think he could have been a little better.

Spanished Catholic guy was good. I almost wanted to see more of him, but I thinks he worked better with less fleshing out.
>>
>>68784834
Bring back Davy Jones or fuck off.
>>
>>68788737
The Spanish stuff worked really well in the context of the series having this theme of a more mundane world encroaching on all the weird shit, but I didn't think Blackbeard was set up well at all.

Barbossa and Davy Jones had all their supernatural elements explained as part of their characters and backstory, but Blackbeard was just

>I'm Blackbeard, you know I'm bad because I'm in the pop culture consciousness.
>Also my ship is magic and I have magic ship bottles for some reason.
>>
>>68788767
Beckett is better

>It's just good business, bro!
>>
>>68788971
I think you're right about Blackbeard needing to be explained better.

The movie was still solid though.

According to my girlfriend I've watched At Worlds End 3 times, but I always rewatch it because I remember literally nothing about it and claim I've never seen it.

In contrast, I have no problems with the others including On Stranger Tides.
>>
>>68788976
Gotta admit, Beckett's death was one of the best scenes in the series.
>>
I understand if you guys dont believe me but my friends dad did concept art for some shit from this movie and he showed us art of ghost sharks and the bad guy who just looked like a zombie with a sword. FUCKING GHOST SHARKS
>>
>>68789156
I don't know, the priest and the mermaid stuff was so vestigial and awful that I can't really forgive it. Like it's true that Jack Sparrow needs a straight man to work properly, but it wasn't that boring fuck.

I did like the scene where Barbossa and Jack are captured and start broing out though. Really the whole movie should have been them reluctantly working together to beat Blackbeard and the Spanish.
>>
>>68789199
I hated it, but mostly because I was offended by the idea of a light and medium frigate somehow destroying a first or second rate ship of the line with a single pass.
>>
>>68789354
The priest was forced as fuck. It's like they knew he was just obligatory, so they barely gave him much screen time. But you need to give more more time or none. Because when we've been focusing on Jack, Barbossa, Blackbeard, etc. for fifteen minutes and all the sudden we have to watch this boring guy for one or two minutes, it feels like nothing more than a distraction. Also:

>Pirates of the Carribean movie
>main character that remains a pacifist throughout the whole movie

Yeah, that won't work.
>>
>>68785357
Are his teeth rotting out?

JUST
>>
>no pintel and ragetti

>>
I can't even remember a thing that happened in the fourth one, aside from something about immortality
>>
>>68789354
>Really the whole movie should have been them reluctantly working together to beat Blackbeard and the Spanish.

That sounds great actually. They work really well off each other.

>>68789749
How can they justify this?
Maybe the best supporting cast of any franchise...
>>
>>68789374
>ship shows up
>oh better give them our stern
forgot which movie but at least they got ass fucked by a few shots
>>
>>68785550

This. Dead Man's Chest and At World's End blend together to me so much that I can't even tell them apart.

They feel like one script that got bloated into two movies.
>>
>>68789374
Keep in mind one of the attacking ships was magic.

Also if we're talking about historical accuracy I'm still confused as to what exactly the East India Company was doing in the West Indies.
>>
>>68786749

Good. They have her way too much plot power in At World's End.
>>
I love 1 and 3.
>>
>>68790032

I loved 1 and liked 2.

3 felt bloated and weird but I liked the pirate meeting thing.

Haven't seen 4 yet.
>>
The Curse of the Black Pearl was truly piratekino
>>
>>68790089

It was good because it focused on one centralized plot that was introduced and then pretty much wrapped up in its own way.

2 and 3 suffered from introducing way too much shit and blowing it up into two movies.

They're fun and keep some of the magic but get bogged down a bit.

Like I've said though. Haven't seen 4.
>>
>>68789956
I thought that actually was the case.
>>
>>68790268

I have no idea. Haven't read up on the series but it sure as fuck feels like it.

IMHO

The ending of World's End is so good that it justifies the whole movie.

Dead Man's Chest is awesome but lacks Geoffrey Rush.

Orlando can only come back every 10 years or so if i remember correctly after he died in 3rd film.

Anyone else disappointed that Jack Sparrow was downgraded from funny, but actually dangerous and morally ambiguous pirate in the first movie, to nothing but comic relief in the sequels?

Elizabeth and Will are terrible when on screen together desu. It's a blessing in disguise.

I'm looking forward to this. Last one wasn't bad. I enjoyed it more than 3, which well, really focused on Elizabeth and Will...
>>
>>68793734
A quick image search shows ships with the white ensign and union jack, both of which seem historically acceptable. I'm not as good with flags as I am with other bits of naval history though, so I'm not totally sure.
>>
>>68793957
I think in the fourth movie, there was some continuity errors between the Providence and her longboats, but I don't know about historical accuracy.

However, I think there is a shot of a carronade (on the Dauntless, at that), which would be inaccurate I think. Carronade didn't come about until the turn of the 19th century if I remember correctly. Late 1700's at the earliest.
>>
>>68794786
Carronades would seem to be out of place, yes. 1770's at the earliest.

The more I think about >>68789374, the more reasonable it seems. If the Endeavor does not fight back, then point-black treble shot from both sides would certainly do a stupendous amount of damage.
>>
>>68795132
But not enough to kill it. Not with a single broadside from both, even at that range. Besides, it was fucking stupid that just sat there. I mean, I get that Cutler realized he was going to lose eventually with the Dutchman against him, but he could have easily devastated the Pearl and probably the Dutchman in that battle.

All I'm saying is: maybe Beckett should have had a two decker or something. That would have made a little bit more sense, and would be much more of a fair match against two frigate-equivalents.
