Comedy is surprise. Unpredictability is funny.
The Eric Andre Show isn't as good as Tim and Eric are at making this type of stuff, but his show is pretty funny. I think T&E feels less randumb because there's a clear theme throughout, a distaste of humanity, the darkness underneath comes through really well and generally speaking a skit will adhere to a sense of coherency even if it is completely absurd, it will fit inside of its own world.
