Short answer is no. Vegeta only exists on the show because of fan demand, but the creator of the show doesn't like him very much so he's fucked. And according to Toriyama, some well beloved character is returning(Future Trunks apparently)so expect Vegeta to be even less special.

Why dragon ball became so tame? One of the things I love of dbz is that a lot of people died in the show, now noone dies and there are no real bad guys except for dead freezer.

Super has just been rehash though, this entire tournament is reminding me of the one from DBZ wtih the Kais. Goku is using Kaioken 10x as a Super Saiyan god even though he was able to do this even before being a super saiyan.
The first Arc of GT wasn't great, but the fact that Goku was a kid again meant that the power scale was brought back down to the level adult trunks is at.Super 17 never used a ray to make goku a kid again, Goku turned into an adult when he went SS4 for the first time
