It's great. They're making season 2 (lol) so I'm looking forward to that.

http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/news/the-night-manager-season-2-everything-we-know-so-far-tom-hiddleston-olivia-colman-john-le-carre-a6956431.html
>>
It was fun enough, but full of tired clichés of the genre and contained nothing we haven't seen done before in far better shows or films.

Tom Hiddleston is great though - I really didn't get what all the fuss was about before I watched this

why the fuck would this need a season 2
>>
Still need to watch the last episode. It's OK, but far from the best thing on TV as I've seen it described.

It's lacking something; something about the production value seems off, despite nothing obvious standing out as cheap/bad. I think it's just really boring camerawork; quality American TV has really caused us to expect movie-quality cinematography in quality television, which this show totally lacks.
>>

This. The production quality was so bad. It felt like some BBC daytime soap. The tv bar has been raised by shows like True Detective, Fargo, etc. This show hasn't caught up

Only compelling, not boring character in the series.

Your life must suck.

Personally I'm slightly cross that the BBC worked its SJW feminist agenda into the story by adding kebab and female roles where they were absent in the book, but w/e; it's a good Le Carré miniseries.

recommend me some films/shows about arms dealers that are better than this show

The day of the rope is coming

Lord of War is way better than this series, and strikes me as far more realistic.
>>
>>68767792
The Constant Gardener is also a Le Carre book (a much better one) that covers a lot of the same themes. The movie version (w/ Ralph Feinnes) is massively better than this miniseries.

Certainly. The Night Manager was bordering on the absurd a lot of the time

I know what you mean. This sneaky business is completely fanciful. The United Kingdom government openly sells military equipment to Saudi Arabia, our n°1 enemy, through companies like BAE systems. They don't even try to hide it behind shady arms dealers like Roper. I think it's quite depressing.
>>
Entire series was worth it for the weapons demonstration and how ridiculous it was

nah
>>
>>68768339
Are you kidding? It was James Bond tier realism.

this

jesus christ how shitty it was

laurie as an arms dealer is worth it tbqh

what are you even trying to say

I thought you were talking about the bitch, then I realized who laurie is
>>
>>68768387
Ironic since Le Carre novels are the polar opposite of James Bond, I'd imagine it got changed a lot in adaptation.

This is from the same guy who wrote Tinker Tailor
>>
>>68769408
He's just shitposting, there really is nothing James Bond about it.
>>
>>68769408

Yeah this bothered me a bit. Fucking male model with impeccable skills in this and that.

Oldman was pretty loyal to Smiley except for his weight.
>>
>>68763675
kinda fell flat

his whole motivation to take down house was just some paki girl who he had a 1 night stand with
>>
>>68769408
I think the difference with this is that it focuses so much on the Bond villain baddy, whereas most other Le Carre stories have those characters in the background.

The first episode of this series, where you only see Laurie's character at a distance, is more in keeping with that. It falls apart when he becomes the focus, and you're confronted with the absurdity of this "old etonian" running guns with his ridiculous entourage.

Come to think, this is the first dud Le Carre adaptation in a LONG time: Russia House, Tailor of Panama, Constant Gardener, Tinker, Tailor, and A Most Wanted Man were all great.
>>
Story was total shit.
Characters wre boring and Higglebottom just made no sense.
DEVON
Would wifi Debiecki
>>
>>68769685
I'd really like to see a quality Little Drummer Girl movie. Instead of re-making good movies - which makes no sense - how about re-make a great story that didn't originally get the film treatment it deserved?
