Now that the dust has settled can we all agree this movie was unoriginal and a lifeless corporate product and the prequels are far superior to this garbage?

Sure, that's reasonable, I enjoyed it but I understood that it was a stepping stone, a reintroduction to the SW universe and an introduction to the characters that now inhabit it 20-odd years later.

>the prequels are far superior to this garbage?
Ram a cactus up your ass.

He said far superior, which is actually extremely to do because TFA is almost unwatchable anyway. Doesn't mean the prequels are top tier stuff. He really just said far superior and that's the objective truth.
>>
>>68754117

If you found TFA unwatchable, you've got school shooter levels of autism.
>>
>>68754225
It was shit. Disney basically watered down A New Hope and infused it with lazy nostalgia pandering and cheesy capeshit sensibilities. Shameless cash grab on par with Jurassic World.

Normalscum. People born after 1991. Social media consumers.

I'm born in 1995 and want old, shunned nerd's club Star Wars back.

I know what you mean, anon. Don't worry.

Is it even sustainable though? What's going to happen if they move onto the next flavour of the month movie?

At least the prequels are still watchable as a comedy, whereas TFA is just really bland overall (aside from a few good parts).
>>
>>68754546
I think that's cute
>>
>>68754918
I only hear people on 4chin say this. Most people IRL think it's quite enjoyable and exciting.
>>
>>68754949
I think it's just because of the hype and trying to jump on the Star Wars bandwagon. I have a few normie friends (the ones who share Buzzfeed articles on kikebook) who like it since it's their first Star Wars movie. Keep in mind that people also liked the Phantom Menace back in 1999.

Even Ebert gave it a 3.5/4 stars

You have not watched those prequels in a very, very long time if you think this.
>>
>>68755037
>Keep in mind that people also liked the Phantom Menace back in 1999.

I lost count of the thousand yard stares walking out of an opening night midnight screening of TPM I went to. The Darth Maul cosplayers looked like they had PTSD.

I can assure you TPM was not generally beloved in 1999 the way TFA is now, especially not by people who liked the originals.

Even if the prequels are worse movies, they at least "feel" like someone was trying to make out of them, to expand the Star Wars universe.

This movie is basically what a bunch of normies that don't really get what Star Wars is about would make, copying off the old in the worst ways without adding anything new in it. It was just cowardly as fuck. I'd rather have a super divisive product than something so tame and average.
>>
>>68753373

I realised this the moment I walked out the cinema with normies and even they agreed with me.

This.
I found it bland, forgettable, soul less and nothing but a cash grab for the consumerist ADHD millennial culture.

Anyone else dissapointed these things weren't The First Order's soldiers instead of Storm Troopers? It would've made them at least more interesting rather than being a copy and paste of The Empire from the original trilogy.

I think they should've been the more specialized First Order soldiers, like snipers or the ones who fire Starkiller Base, and that's why their helmets look like that.

Yes
>>
>>68753373

Yeah, good summary OP. I also didn't like all the cuck shit.
>>
>>68758935

I watched it with my sister and her friends. She had tickets for the premiere.

But nice of you to project your solitude for the rest of /tv/ to notice.
>>
>>68758935

Are you fucking dumb? Many normies hated this. My dad hated it because of how everything was still connected to the Skywalkers and how corny it was.

I'm willing to say I liked this more than my normie friends because no matter how shit the movie is, I do love Star Wars.
>>
>>68754719
Well aren't you a special little snowflake, faggot.
>>
just saw recently, realized it had the same plot as a new hero. was this on purpose? this is a serious question.
>>
>>68760201

It was more like a blend of the entire OT rather than a rehash of ANH
>>
>>68760201
I guess it's why Disney hired JJ Abrams. He did the exact same thing with Star Trek.

I've been shitting on the movie since December. It's basically 2/10 at best. Better than prequels, but that's not saying much.
>>
>>68753373

What doesn't ever get mentioned among the meme sites here is that they actually had enough balls to make a THIRD movie where they destroy a death star....er Starkiller
>>
>>68755273
To be fair, there wasn't as many "le geek girls and guys" back in 1999 whose only introduction to Star Wars is pop culture references on their favorite sitcoms.
There's a huge bandwagon nowadays that if you don't like Star Wars then you aren't a "real nerd like me xD"
>>
Can't we all admit that ALL of star wars is fucking garbage.

Hell yes.
