>“As the decades have gone by, commercial time has grown,” SNL creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels said in a statement. “This will give time back to the show and make it easier to watch the show live.”
>To make it up to advertisers, NBC producers announced opportunities for creating “original brand content” with SNL.
>“We are excited to try something new and unique that will shape and drive advertiser content too,” NBCUniversal chairman of advertising sales Linda Yaccarino said in a statement. “By partnering together, advertisers can capture an audience that only SNL can deliver.”

They're literally going to make SNL an hour long commercial
BRAVO NBC

I think hawaii five-o has been the pioneer of this sort of ground breaking advertisement integration

I remember Chuck's Subway ads. Big Mike had a way of describing subs.

Why is it always fucking Subway anyway?
>>
>>68746792
I thought they were already doing that. I've noticed more product placement during sketches lately. Maybe theve been doing test runs to prove the concept.

I have no idea. I guess subway is just more aggressive about it. The subway shit in Community really bugged me. Drawing attention to that shit and making jokes about it doesn't suddenly make it ok to have blatant product placement
>>
>shitshow becomes even more shit

30 Rock called this shit like 6 years ago.

When 80% of the show is already meta, there's no reason to not get paid to be meta.

Albed's character was practically an excuse to break the 4th wall and get paid not only by commercials, but in-episode product placement, while also making fun of it.

But I agree, being meta and poking fun at something is no excuse to keep doing it. Which is why I'm pissed at the 3 goddamn painball episodes they did. Do one, great that's fun and unique. 2. A callback, and better than the first. But by the third you're spending so much time being meta trying to explain it that you've pissed away any opportunity of it being good.
>>
>they mock apple ceaselessly for child labor
>apple sues them
>snl gets cancelled
Calling it now
>>
>>68747012
holy shit that's embarrassing
>>
They should just cancel it already. The endless shilling will make it less likely though.
>>
>>68747384
they're too pussy to directly mock their sponsors. It'll be more like
>lazy political joke set up
>here let me shoehorn in a call with my NEW APPLE© IPHONE 7™ WITH VERISON© DATAPLAN THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR PHONE
>laugh track
>>
>>68747365
The third paintball episode was maybe the worst shit ever. It was a cool idea until it came down to the final battle thing but the whole thing came off so cringey. Like the one-liners they said to their dopplegangers. It was one of the most chill inducing shit I've ever watched, and I'm a huge fan of community.

I totally get what you're saying too. It's one thing to do a callback, but stop doing it every fucking season. It looks lazy, and it felt like that too. I've been marathoning through it again while doing my art and you can actually tell where the show just drops off the face of funny. I think it's around that musical intro for that one season.
>>
>>68747384
They already put Apple laptops and computers in all of NBC's television programs already

I hope this backfires and the brands just start hiring studios to produce original content that cab be downloaded/streamed from the company's website.
>>
>>68747012
hooooooooooooooooly FUCK
>>
>>68747012
Using bing was much more cringeworthy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfHuZ5qrYX4
>>
>>68747870
WHY
>>
>>68746792

Who the fuck still watches advertisement laden television instead of streaming the shit or buying the season DVD?

MORONS, that's who.
>>
>>68747870
>tfw he actually says Bing It
I mean I expected it but holy shit how did they think they could get away with that?
>>
>>68748378
>get away with that?
They knew exactly what they were doing when they were paid to say it.
>>
>>68748371
Well now you'll be forced to watch advertisements.
>>
>>68747870
Bing is great for searching porn though.
>>
>not knowing they did this in the early days where Chevy Chase shilled cameras infront of a live studio audience

Still pathetic, but this isn't anything new.

Who cares?

Not this nigger.

....Go on.

So basically SNL has come full circle.

Basically this

>>
>>68749205
Holy fucking shit this literally looks like a commercial.
>>
>>68746792
>As the decades have gone by, commercial time has grown,
yeah no it hasn't. That's a downright lie. Watch any of those old 70s sitcoms on demand. They are 23 minutes long. It all just depended what channel you were on. Now Every half hour show is 21-22 minutes. We're talking 1 minute here peoples
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-z9fV557rl8&feature=youtu.be

tv has always been purty shit
>>
>>68749032
>>68749232

Search something generic like "teen girl" on google. Then search it on bing

>this desperation

Can they just admit that no one watches their shit show anymore? The only relevant things they have done in the last 10 years are a handful of Digital Shorts and some Lonely Island music videos.
>>
>>68749657
Tbh didn't see much a difference. Different set of pics, but none more lewd than the other. I understand what you're getting at though, Google requires specific terms if you want to find something whereas on Bing they're more prone to pop up easily. Is that right?
>>
>>68747138
>Drawing attention to that shit and making jokes about it doesn't suddenly make it ok to have blatant product placement

So many shows do this shit and think it's acceptable. And if you call them out and this dumb shit, idiot fans will double down on the idea that it's okay because the show made fun of itself for doing it and you obviously just don't get it.

This whole commercial culture in America right now is obnoxious and really fucking sick.
Americans are literally being raped by constant commercials every single day when they turn on their tv or are online and that shit is so wrong.

>We want the DCuck audience

>>68749838
I don't know about better for porn in general, but bing is better if you like captions.
>>
Fuck Taren Killam that half cooked Sudeikis clone
>>
RIP
>>
This is basically Lorne's last hope for keeping SNL on the air.
Ratings are dropping like a stone because the writing is fucking awful and the actors are not funny (TV dying altogether not helping either), and he is using commercials as a scapegoat.
So with this, he keeps the show profitable and on the air.

I personally give zero fucks because SNL has region-locked their videos since they first started putting them up, and bombed all the ones I could watch. Fuck em.
>>
>>68747012
>>68747870
This is an example of very intrusive advertising.

>>68749997
This is not. I never understood the freakout about Man of Steel. That was barely anything. Holy shit, a 7/11 and Sears exist in a town, and Superman drank a beer, call the cops. It's not like those things don't exist, and it wasn't being obnoxiously intrusive.

Luthor's jolly rancher moment is closer to product placement if anything.
>>
>>68750365
I don't understand why they'd region lock so aggressively. It doesn't make me want to actually watch the show if I can't open up youtube and see a short clip. Like what's the point
>>
>>68749595
Nope. Shows are under 20 minutes now.
>>
I was thinking the other day how much I missed the fake commercials they used to do and now they can't do them because they already have way too many real commercials. This is a good thing imo.

but I wish networks would get competitive and shorten the commercials in general. They are way too long and everyone records things and avoids them altogether.
>>
>>68749701
now imagine how much money is dumped into SNL, fallon, and the rest.

All sinking ships
>>
>>68747365
They did a 4th episode bro(5 total if you count the 2 parter as different episodes, which you should as they parodied different movies).
>>
SNL died when Tina Fey and Amy Poehler left. It's a shame too because Bobby Moynihan is one of the funniest improv comics alive, and Vanessa Bayer is adorable.
>>
>>68750794
It died long before that. God tier SNL was the 70s

Tina Fey had Palin and that was it.

Is Franco still dead?
>>
>>68750862
SNL was never funny, my man.
At least now they have Kyle Mooney, who's produced actual comedy skits when he's doing his interviews.
