Community seems to be for the kitchy 90's kids who are educated enough not to work at McDonald's but not educated enough to work at a job where they can afford real art.
It's the same sort of lazy-but-not-as-stupd-as-baby-boomers crowd that goes for Arrested Development and Little Miss Sunshine.

Series went to shit mid season 3 when everyone became a flanderization of themselves.
In the beginning everyone made a great pairing with everyone (jeff x abed the best one), but then It became "abed x troy", " shirley x annie" "annie x jeff" and "everybody talks shit about britta and pierce".
Heck, they even made Señor Chang shit with that Kevin shit.
Thankfully, Leonard, that fat kid, Dean and Magnitude made It bearable to watch because of their gags
