Pretty much every scene with him being raised was shit. Pa Kent basically told him to hide his powers because he will be important someday. We never see him teaching his son the value of human life and all the important values that make him the blue boyscout.
Him snapping zods neck was literally the same scene as justice lords supes killing lex luthor. I think that scene would be fine if it was preceded by scenes of superman actually saving citizens from zods eye Lazers and debris, that would actually give him killing zod some weight. As it was it felt like a lazy and pointlessly grim way to make supes judge jury and executioner, which is exactky what he fears becoming in every other form of media.

I for one am kind of glad to see a different perspective on heroics other than the typical "great power great responsibility" line. He continues that train of thought in BvS with the story about the drowning animals - actions have consequences, both good and bad, and on top of that, Mama Kent says he doesn't "owe" the world anything except what he chooses to give.
Which in some ways is a better message. Spider-Man helps because he must, Superman helps because he chooses to.

Krypton Krowe expects him to be an all powerful figure who can save everyone, but as time goes on he realizes this isn't possible
Kostner Kent wants him to grow up a normal boy while telling him that he will be capable of great things but it won't be black/white, and one day he will know himself when he is ready (as opposed to corny old comics where the kents stitch the suit for him)
