Do summer camps like in 80s movies exist in real life? It's one of my favorite genres but I've never heard of a camp that hosts a single large group of kids for an entire summer like in the movies.
>>
it JUST doesn't matter

Do summer camps that last the whole summer exist? Yes. Do summer camps filled with nubile young honeys begging to get fucked exist? Not really. Most of the "action" consists of kissless virgins jerking each-other off
>>

Yeah, I only ever went to boy scout camp as a kid. It was only for a week and it was lame as fuck. I wanted the 80s movie camp experience.
>>
Is it weird that I have such a huge sense of nostalgia for this time period even though I wasn't born until over a decade later?

red oaks tv show... I hope we get more 80s style shows
>>

Hadn't heard of it before now. Sounds exactly like what I'm looking for. Thanks anon.

You should have gone to theater camp. You likely would have been the only straight boy there. Look at how gaggle of nerds go sniffing after that one girl who likes D&D. That coulda been you, chief!
>>
One of my friends spent a summer working at a Christian summer camp where you could be dismissed/expelled for full frontal hugging.

Side hugs only, it was in their rulebook.

Not strange at all. I personally feel nostalgic for the 30's and 40's, even though that time period was 40-60 years before I was born. It's a big reason why most of my favorite films are from those two decades
>>
>>68723782
No.

90s ski resort comedies, though, that's closer to reality. The major differences are that in the real world everyone is less good looking and there's more property damage.

That's a 70s movie

I went to something for my school that could be seen as the stereotypical summer camp, but there wasn't anyone I didn't know there.

Just like anything else, no matter how close it actually got, it was 90% downtime being watched by adults.

>went to Christian camp every year
>Mfw the rules were hardly enforced and the honor system was supposed to catch the many campers broke them but never got caught

That's me, but my thing are 80s/90s/early-90s coming-of-age movies. Drama, comedy, fantasy, I love it all. I never had any of the experiences depicted in these films, and that just shatters me. That's why I'm so drawn to them.

Tell me, was/is the real American teenage life any close to how these films depict it?
>>
>>68726833
/early-00s*
>>
>>68726833
As somebody who was a teenager in the early 90s, no....no it wasn't.
>>
>>68726275
Well that general timeframe. Camp movies made between Meatballs up until like 1984 still had that 70s overlap feel to them.
>>
>>68726987
Yeah, it's not like January 1st, 1980 someone flipped a switch and the 70s just vanished.

remake when?
>>
>>68726833
No? What the fuck. You guys are retarded. Do you watch Escape from New York and wonder if it's really like that too?
>>
>>68727046
I was born in 1991 and for some reason that late 70s/early 80s feel makes me so fucking nostalgic. The short shorts, colorful socks, converse sneakers, those weird midriff jerseys that guys wore for some reason. All of it.
>>
>>68727146
I saw this on TCM a while back. Really interesting that they made a summer camp movie featuring female leads way back then.
>>
>>68727180
Sorry to think that the Breakfast Club is a tiny bit more realistic than Escape From New York, nerd.
>>
>>68726833
I'm with you anon. All those high school movies from the late 90s/early 00s featuring young love and dramatic prom nights. I missed my chance at experiencing that and all I have is those movies ;_;

modern posters are so fucking lame, literally photoshop-tier. What happened to hiring real artists?

these races were pretty hard
glad they are illegal now
