Do summer camps like in 80s movies exist in real life? It's one of my favorite genres but I've never heard of a camp that hosts a single large group of kids for an entire summer like in the movies.

One of my friends spent a summer working at a Christian summer camp where you could be dismissed/expelled for full frontal hugging.

That's me, but my thing are 80s/90s/early-90s coming-of-age movies. Drama, comedy, fantasy, I love it all. I never had any of the experiences depicted in these films, and that just shatters me. That's why I'm so drawn to them.
