What went so wrong?
>>
>>68722223
Nothing
>>
>>68722223
A lot of things that try to borrow that ole Lovecraftian magic fall apart in their third acts. By showing the whole "the ship passed through hell" thing and having Sam Neil's character just completely wig out, they lost their edge.

I though if anything, they should have had the "entity" possessing the ship open up a portal with the drive and let some actual horrors through.
>>
>>68722351

Honestly the third act ruined the movie for me. It felt rushed.
>>
I enjoyed this. Went in blind knowing nothing and thoroughly enjoyed the sp00ky stuff.
>>
>>68722223
They forgot to Turn their Geller Field on
>>
>>68722223
I need more movies like this in my life. There's not enough lovecraftian horror movies.
>>
I liked the Lovecraftian aspect of it...I loved the creepiness of it.

I just felt like the payoff fell short.

OP by the way.
>>
>>68722223
I like it. It's fun when a movie cuts loose.
>>
>>68722512
It was humanity's first foray into the warp
>>
I haven't seen it in a long while but I remember it being a mostly solid sci-fi/horror.
I was hoping to see something from the hell dimension, but sometimes things are more scarier when you don't see them.
>>
>>68722223
Basically, all the gore got cut by the studio

This scene was spooky.
Also the quick cut scene when they go to the hell dimension.
>>
I genuinely don't know how this film got bad reviews
it's not perfect but damn, it's a great little space horror flick
>>
>>68723313
It really was.
>>
>>68722223
The black comic relief character killed it for me.
>>
They went to another dimension
>>
>>68724282
I don't even remember that, but that sort of shit was pretty standard in the 90's.
>>
They didnt show enough of the disturbing shit
>>
>>68724474

Yeah I wanted to see more holy fuckness.
>>
>>68722223
literally nothing. space opera is the best, although the hard rock track at the end was pretty wut
>>
>>68722380
>if anything this movie should have been Doom
No. Die.

It interestingly plays on the same concept of Chaos that Warhammer does.
>>
>>68722223
Event Horizon needed a stronger script, better defined characters and much greater insight into the fall from sanity experienced by the main character. At times the MC would turn against the crew then cry with them a scene later.

>>68724282
He was funny at times, and went against horror conventions by not being killed off. And he was actually competant.
>>
>>68722223
The CGI floating crap that shat on Anderson's budget.
>>
>>68722223
It ends with the white race getting cucked yet again; with the blond Aryan woman waking up naked in the arms of a ripped niger.
It probably is what started the disease of miscegregation in Hollywood
>>

>>
They didnt show hell

The ship being able to do anything even resurrecting Jurassic Park man made the story lose all of its tension

Comedy relief Shiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeet Niggga xD blackman
>>
>>68724282
Are you kidding? That scene where he comes back from an apparent death is a hallmark of the movie.
1. It breaks the "the black guys always die" trope
2. It provides relief from the heaviness of the story (not comic relief, though)
3. It is a callback to his capability and resourcefulness.

pegging is cool

He managed to perfectly eyeball a trajectory back to his ship from orbit. Nigger was hundreds of miles away and couldm't even see the fucking ship.

Scene took me right out of the film because it was so absurdly hilarious.

That canned punch sound effect from TES3 Morrowind also took me out of it.
>>
>>68723313
Literally Slaanesh
>>
>>68725742
Director also directed Resident Evil film. In the commentary track he was saying he wanted the black leader of the Umbrella troops to be the next Bond.

A cuck to rival Tarantino
>>
>>68726479
Hey we're in a film were the spess ship was in hell. I get it was difficult but you don't have to take it serious 100% of the time.
>>
>>68726694
>just turn your brain off lmao
>>
>>68726759
>just criticize a fantasy movie about space ships and hell because of an unrealistic trajectory lmao

It was the Event Horizon captain IIRC.

>ywn be one of the porn actors hired to film the black sabbath blood orgy for this film
>ywn fuck bitches covered in blood and intestines for the pleasure of anons on /tv/
>ywn not need eyes to see
>>
>>68725041
Nah, I mean more Lovecraft than Doom, with the Big Bad being something trying to heave itself through the portal the drive makes and the survivors trying to either escape or close it, or both.

The thought of a haunted derelict ship just floating out there around Titan slowly oozing more chaos into reality works for me.

This scene was actually much longer originally but was cut down.

> The infamous "bloody orgy" video was also longer. Parts which are still in the scene, like one of the crew members sticking his fingers deep into other one's eyes, and a female crew member sodomizing male crew member with iron pipe, were even more violent in original version of the scene.

>There were also lot more shots of Event Horizon crew naked and covered in blood having violent sex and raping and eating each other, more graphic version of the scene where man pulls his intestines out of his mouth, one crew member is held and stabbed in back of the head with spike and part of his mouth and teeth drops out, other crew member is crawling on floor while others are hitting his legs with steel bars smashing them to pieces as he screams and is crawling away leaving pieces of his legs behind, one girl has screws drilled into her teeth, other girl is held while her arm is broken with hunk of metal, one more girl has her breasts mauled and then ripped off by another crew member, some other parts of the scene were also cut.

>Reason why this scene disturbed test audience is because filmmakers, in order to make the scene look more realistic and therefore lot more violent, hired real life amputees for special effects scenes where Event Horizon crew members had their body parts damaged in many ways, and porn actors were hired to make the sex and rape scenes more graphic.

>According to producer Jeremy Bolt and director Paul W.S. Anderson, some audience members during screening of rough cut of the movie started fainting while watching this scene.
>>
>>68728471
>fainting
Fucking pansies.
>>
>>68728471
>>68728541
Test audiences were a mistake.
>>
>>68728541

I watched the making of Alien last night...and apparently test audiences were running out of the theater at the chestburster scene.

People in the early late 70's/early 80's were pussies.
>>
>>68728337
the first is good the other two were pure shit

PURE SHIT
>>
>>68729200
>people who weren't completely desensitized to extreme violence by decades of internet usage were shocked at something extremely violent
