Bad guys have hijacked something, Dredd tries to stop them, stops them but they flee and he secures whatever it is on orders from central(some kind of food or medicine or shit), when the Judges show up to help secure it he takes a bike and chases off again after the surviving perps. Hunting down leads/investigating or fucking whatever he wants.
Find bad guys, fights them on a train or some kind of future moving platform transporting shit somewhere. Leader escapes, Dredd kills the rest.

The expectations for Dredd were so incredibly low based on the Stallone fiasco that it seemed like a property that was unredeemable due to that baggage.
It was a great solid action siege movie, which is rarely done, when people probably expected the typical cliched sprawling action movie where the action set pieces happen in a bunch of different locations, so I think that helped to make it stand out as a bit different as well.
The casting was great, especially Dredd, the psychic chick and Mama, and the slo-mo drug scenes were also pretty novel and enticing.
Also, Dredd was basically an anti-hero, which is kinda funny since his only goals are to uphold the law and punish criminals.
