I liked Frasier... but the rest I don't want to watch.
Check out Leverage, it's a well paced show with good plots and story. I couldn't stand shows that you can only watch a season or 2 of.
Bleach was one of the exceptions because I watched it when I was younger when it ended at that point, it never got better.

FarScape doesn't have the same issue as other Sci-Fi the cast fluctuates as the ship goes on, some episodes it's just the main character, before season 1 is done they go through more types of aliens it makes Star Wars seem like a shitty anime, and more cerbral mind fucks then any other movie or show.
Mix it with the BDSM girls that come later, it's a show that follows a good long linear style without being the self contained episode bullshit of Star Trek.
Did I mention the fucking hot chick? I am fan of the New zealand girls.

Nothing but edgy "mature" dramas padded out with comfy but unremarkable sitcoms. Needs more dramedy/tongue-in-cheek material and genre shows. Also the fact that you you think Farscape, Xena, BSG and Angel represent "middling taste" is disconcerting.
