I'm guessing she's related to Obi Wan somehow. Remember the scene where she touches the lightsaber and hears Obi Wan's voice? The first line is him calling out her name and the second is him whispering that these are her first steps. Why would they go out of their way to cut Guiness's old lines into sounding like he's calling out Rey's name and have McGregor record new lines for the character when theoretically he'd have no connection to Rey since he was dead long before she was born?

The Star Wars franchise has always focused on Skywalkers. First Luke, then Anakin. Why would they make Rey anything but a Skywalker? It wouldn't make sense from a story standpoint. This whole "she's a kenobi" has almost zero basis on hard facts, while every main character in every Star Wars movie has been a Skywalker, as I said earlier. We have never seen any other Kenobi besides Obi-Wan, so to assume that there others would be baseless and dumb.

Sure it does, she gives Luke his lightsaber just like Obi Wan did in episode 4, it's even kept in the same chest Obi Wan kept it in. Besides that, if Rey and Luke bring balance to the force together it would bring closure to Anakin and Obi Wan's parting after they fought in ep3. Besides that JJ had someone edit some old recordings of Alec Guiness specifically so it sounds like he's caling "Rey" in the vision scene when she touches Lukes saber.
