I don't think they removed him from the story, he wont just appear in the movie. Probably they wont show the orcs drinking the blood, because they would have to show battle of Shattrah and shit afterwards and then you would not be able to feel sympathetic about the orcs.

They can't introduce everything in the Warcraft universe in a 2h movie. It's the right move to leave that out and focus on the first conflict between orcs and humans. They can easily "imply" certain things, and then come back and flesh it out later on in sequel movies.
Do you remember how Golem was introduced as just some random cave creature with a barebones explanation from Gandalf in the movies? Then they showed a flashback in RotK to flesh out how he came to be.
Relax guys, it's the right move. The last think you want to do is overwhelm your audience and confuse those who are not familiar with Warcraft.

If you followed the making of this movie and watched the interviews you'd know there's very little studio interference. It's Blizzard's baby and they had very specific conditions that needed to be met by Legendary/Atlas in order to let them make the movie. Blizzard were 100% on board with Duncan when he pitched them his idea. He developed the screenplay for it and everything.
This is a passion project with a tent-pole budget, very rarely do we see that. He made the movie he wanted to make.
