Ofcourse they're shit, they're grabbing famous sci-fi works, they strip off its depth and meaning and turn it into a teen angst movie with futuristic gadgets and large blocky buildings to appeal to young girls who prefer to look at young adults with relationship problems.It's basically what Game of Thrones is to fantasy except they took it a lot further

I don't think it would happen. Nature designed women to be delicate and pretty, so they can induce protective instincts in men.
It's the same thing with dogs and puppies. Instead of being ferocious killers like wolves, they evolved to be cute so humans will take care of them.
You don't want to hurt something pretty. If fact uglier children are more likely to be sexually abused than pretty ones.
