I will watch "Sinister" now.
Hope it will be good.
In the mood for everything horror today, just watched "Unfriended" earlier which was disappointing

>unfriended
>disappointing
Are you 13 years old? Unfriended is Uwe Boll-tier, you can tell that from the plot synopsis / trailer.
>>
>>68671250

Sinister starts great and then it turns to shit. The ending is an absolute "fuck you" to anyone who took it seriously.
>>
>>68671751

Seconded.

I'm also partial to the Paranormal Activity movies, except the Latino one. All the others are watchable for what they are. Some are better than the first, though the Found Footage gimmick gets worn the fuck out quickly, but other than that, not bad at all.

Try Housebound, also, for something different, with comedy elements, without being a comedy.

From the recent years:

It Follows
Insidious
The VVitch
The Conjuring
Babadook

First half of Sinister is GOAT and if the second half matched the quality of the first I unironically believe it would've been one of the greatest horror movies of all time. The mystery was genuinely compelling, the snuff films were creepy as fuck, Ethan Hawke's character is the best written character I've seen in a horror movie for years, the tension and atmosphere was phenomenal. Then halfway through they piss it all way by revealing there is no cult, no copycat serial killer or anything like that, it's a supernatural Babylonian demon called Baghul who eats the souls of children.

Fuck you Scott Derrickson. You had a perfect set-up that was literally writing itself and you pissed it all way to appeal to the teeny bopper crowd.

This. I've never seen such a train wreck before. It's like someone else took over and fucked it by the ears.

>dat fourth wall breaking jumpscare at the end

>Slipknot wants you to fart by surprise a little

I was so excited then so disappointed.
>>
>>68673548
To be honest, if you saw her and it looked crappy (which it might have when you see what the guys who did this made afterward), it would have ruined the whole movie.
>>
>>68673517
>Insidious
>mfw absolute fucking morons complain that the second half was shit
The first half was a generic haunted house movie with zero originality. As far as haunted house movies go it was a standard 6/10 haunted house movie, but that's all. The second half was great. Turned from a super serious tryhard haunted house movie to a monster flick. The Darth Maul demon is cool as fuck and it was fun watching Patrick Wilson explore the ghost dimension.

Then you get losers trying to pretend as if the second half was "silly" and "ruined" the first half, as if they're too sophisticated to enjoy a fun horror movie.
>>
>>68673754

0/10

No one can say this for real. Impossible.

I've never seen, in any movie, tension drop this fast. As soon as Darth Maul is shown fully, I lost it. It was genuinely scary right until that point, and when the hooves and all show, it loses it all. A deflation the likes of which I have never beheld. It was insane. Dropped like a fucking turd. Everything else sucked hard from then on.
>>
>>68673378
It's good until those kids start dancing around him and shit and then its just funny.
>>
>>68673997
Insidious was never scary you plebeian piece of shit. It was so formulaic, bland and boring. Jump scares out the fucking ass. Then the second half came along to shatter all the horrible pretext it had set up and made it fun. It's funny because fun, well made horror movies like You're Next or Wolf Creek 2 do horribly at the box office, but they deserve the money while absolute steaming piles of shit that are super serious and try hard garbage for teeny boppers like Unfriended, Dark Skies, The Forest, Devil's Due, Annabelle, etc etc make trillions of dollars. It's like they deliberately marketed Insidious towards these kind've teeny boppers, only for the second half of the movie to change course and show them what a patrician's horror movie is like. And it worked.

Rec is my favourite horror movie. I've watched it about six times and I am still a wreck during the final scene.

I also love the first two Scream movies and The Blair With Project.
>>
can any one suggest some better keywords for finding a torrent for "The Tunnel" (2011). I saw it once before and really liked it. I found it god-tier.
>>
>>68671212
If you haven't seen it, go watch Dead Silence, by James Wan.

Rec is a strong contender for my top 5 horror films. Wasn't there an American/English remake of this, with the exact same fucking script and almost the same dialog? Am I just high?
>>
>>68673548
Found the pleb
>>
>>68676023
Dead Silence is bretty good, nothing new but it's a well made, enjoyable haunted house movie. Also has based Donnie Wahlberg. End twist is really fucking good.

REC is pretty shit, only loved by people who pretend to love foreign movies because they think it'll make them seem cultured and patrician. The characters make some of the stupidest decisions I've ever seen performed in a movie. The decisions they make are so stupid I'm certain an autist wrote the script. It's to the point where I get frustrated sitting there watching it. The movie makes no fucking sense.

Honest review time, too bad I forgot most of the movies I watched due to a HDD reformat.

>V/H/S trilogy
The original and sequel are pretty good, the last part is shit, except that I found the overarching van story thing interesting.

>Dawn of the Dead (2004 Remake)
I honestly found the original to be pretty boring and despite trying not to notice them, the SFX were terrible and didn't let me get immersed.
It's not really a horror movie but it's pretty tense and overall really fun and, which I value the most, consistent in quality.

>TBWP
One of the few found footage films I liked. A tad boring.

>The Cabin in the Woods
Again, not really horror, in the sense that horror = tries to scare you.
Similarly to DotD, it's more of an entertaining movie to watch with some friends, but it definitely isn't shallow, I liked the satire of the typical party-in-a-cabin setting and the deepening and expanding the plot over just the creatures.

>28DL/28WL
Pretty fucking good, to be honest.
I think they are the only (good) contagion movies that don't just merely mention the humans' mental state in a few scenes, but have the fucked-uppiness feel throughout the whole movie.

>It Follows
I think it tries too hard to be edgy and hip, didn't like it at all.
Probably because of the lack of character development.

Contracted is an excellent into the psyche of someone who picked up a flesh rotting STD after a one night stand. While actually a horror movie, the movie does a great job of keeping up the dramatic elements. Really worth watching, especially if you don't know the ending. 8/10

I personally like V/H/S 2 more than the first one. It felt like it fixed everything that was wrong with the first one.
>>
>>68684197
Viral was complete dog shit though, not a single good segment
>>
>>68679634
The last V/H/S was so bad. The only story worth mentioning is the one with the Mexican scientist who crossed dimensions.
>>
>>68684869
It's technically a better film. If they dropped "Phase I Clinical Trials", and substituted in "Amateur Night", you'd have the perfect VHS film.

>>68684891
The only good segment was "Parallel Monsters" IMO. I really enjoyed that. It legit creeped me out, although I'm aware of the fact that some people thought the effects were a bit shit. I've always found the concept of parallel universes scary, though.

I liked it. There's something unnerving about the whole thing – the glowy eyes, the fucked up genitals, and whatever the hell that ritual was that they were doing. The blimp with the inverted cross, as well. I like the way it all unfolds, and leaves you with a bunch of unanswered questions.

I can see why people would find it a bit ridiculous, though. There's a fine line between the shock component of horror, and making something plain absurd.

I also don't get why some hate it, as far as "slasher" movies go it's one of the best
