It is being very patient, but I assure you it's going to pay off in the later seasons. Yes, Breaking bad wasn't as slow but I'm pretty sure it would have taken alot more time with everything if they had as much prior success like they now have with BCS, they still had to struggle to stay on. Breaking bad didn't really catch on in such a big way until like season 4, which is where everything started to move alot faster, which is probably why most people remember the entire series that way.
